According to 'Apptism' a site that 'tracks and rates App Store apps,' in only three months the total number of apps available hit 10,000. that number has now doubled to 20,000, in half the time!
The guys over at Apptism also reckon that the amount of apps being made available is showing no signs of slowing down!
Maybe they should make an app, that counts apps. That'll be 20,001. I thank you!

20,000 apps and about 19,700 of them are utterly dire. ;-)
My favourite apps so far are:
Tweetie (for Twitter),
Facebook,
Camerabag (for pics),
Remote (for remote accessing a computer's iTunes from the iPhone),
Shakespeare (the full works of Shakespeare in an iPhone app. Incredible),
TubeStatus (live updates on the London Underground),
Urbanspoon (reviews and locations for nearby restaurants),
TED (watch TED speeches on your iPhone)
ITN News and NY Times (for news).Am I missing any brilliant ones off this list?
If you fancy viewing Current on your iPhone, we've just launched an iphone friendly version of the site. Just go to http://www.current.com in safari on the phone.
