The HTC Magic boasts a 3.2 Megapixel camera, Wi-Fi, and GPS, but, alas, no slide-out keyboard like the original 'Google phone,' HTC's 'G1' which was launched exclusively on T-Mobile late last year.
Think Google can take on Apple with their new phones? I've had a little go on one of the G1s and I have to admit, I bloody liked it. An that's coming from a die hard iPhone fan...

HTC needs to release the G1 as a less costly unlocked GSM phone. Google needs this also.

That's why I didn't upgrade to the G1 when it came out. The monthly data plan was exorbitant.

I would be happily paying for a data plan if my unused minutes wouldn't expire, I wouldn't have to sign up for 2 years, if I could use VoIP (Skpe etc.) freely, and have free text messaging (which doesn't cost the providers anything already).
That would bring the price down to $40-50/month, anything above it I don't think is justified. - 2 years ago

exactly barkway.. i was waiting to get a new phone ever since i knew it was in development because i didnt want get tied down to a contract.. but then that pricey data plan thing just destroyed my bubble and i got myself an HTC wing... not as good but atleast i can afford it...
Sammy soul... that theory would work except.. you would need a constant internet connection... down in oklahoma, u have really limited edge service.not even 3g... and my skype/vonage experience at the home was so bad... i am never trying anything like that ever again...
