Google and Gmail Get Infected With Virus - Alert!!!

One of the world’s largest email service providers, Gmail.com went down on Tuesday at about 4 PM IST. The crash of Gmail affected office work across millions of offices around the world as a large part of the official mail is often carried on Gmail. In India, the Google email service provider is also used by government officials.

When contacted by ET, a Google spokesperson confirmed the development. She added: "A number of users are having difficulty accessing Gmail. We are working to resolve the problem. We know how important Gmail is to our users so we take issues like this very seriously and we apologise for the inconvenience. We encourage anyone having technical difficulty to visit the Gmail help centre where we are posting status updates on the situation."

Update:

Their Gmail Messenger got hit by a huge phishing scam site that I can't believe today so many people went for. You get sent an IM by someone on your buddy list saying to check out a recent video. You click the link and go to a site that say to put in your gmail address and password.

Now after all these years of virus and malwares I'm a little suprised people still fell for this but.... While you're watching the video on vimoo (sp), the site downloads malware onto your computer that runs in the background.

Getting rid of this malware is not as easy as most so if you've been hit, get a copy of Adware Malware (it's free!) and run a complete scan.
