Upskirt photography on the rise

Image
Mr_Costello
With an increasing of photographs taken up unsuspecting women's skirts being posted online, the practice of 'upskirting' is clearly on the rise. They have been taken in the street, on escalators in shopping centres, on trains, at bus stops and in supermarkets, schools, offices and nightclubs.

"Whatever barriers might exist to being a Peeping Tom have been comprehensively eroded by the male-orientated media, while men who already had no qualms over this form of sexual invasion are routinely vindicated in their belief that such behaviour is acceptable."

    • You know I was thinking, When I'm bord waiting for my wife to get out of the bathroom. If there is a female with a great pair of cut off jean shorts on, I take a photo of there butt. I don't post them just a fond reminder of a great pair of shorts.

    • I teach a college course titled “Image and Identity.” The focus is the relationship between real identity and projected/perceived identity--sometimes close, sometimes not so close.

Once many years ago I was talking to two female nurses and--in appropriate medical context, not straight out of the blue--I said something about embarrassment I had felt while getting a vasectomy. I thought I was addressing two *medical professionals* about a medical issue. I was perceived (I found out later) as coming on to two *women* by hinting that I had been neutered.

I felt really awful, and as I write even now I can feel my face flushing with humiliation. How could I possibly have been so cluelessly stupid and naïve? Yeah, I know. Apologies to E.B.B., but “How can I count the ways?” You needn’t remind me of how many ways I was a “maroon,” but if you do I know I’ll have deserved it.

Well, that was then and this is now. Now I’ve had my awareness sharpened and consciousness raised. For me to make the same remarks now would necessarily mean something significantly different from what it meant, like, 30 years ago. You can’t *not know* what quite obviously you *do know*. (Which is why lawyers routinely say or encourage witnesses to say things they know the judge will tell the jury to ignore. Yeah. Right.)

Every woman who has followed this thread, and every woman who stays in touch with current trends, knows that creepy fetishist perverts are eager surreptitiously to focus a camera up her skirt and/or down her blouse. So what will it mean if a clued-in, aware woman wears a short skirt or revealing top?

It might mean, “Hey, fetishist pervert! I’m not going to allow you to determine what I wear!” It might mean, “I’m proud of what I’ve got, and I like having others see it.” And it might mean a lot of other things.

Different persons might use the same expression, verbal or otherwise, to try to project radically different meanings. And different persons might interpret the same expression, verbal or otherwise, in radically different ways. Point? Don’t be astonished if others understand your expression in quite a different way from what you intended. And on the other side, don’t be astonished if you perceive quite a different message from another’s expression from what was intended.

    • I swear I saw an interview on Current TV(but am too lazy to find the link) with an actual peddler of this kind of porn who, for legal reason just sets up stair cams and things like that and pays models to walk over them. In actual hidden camera situations you can't verify the age of the person you're filming so there are some serious legal implications for people who post real hidden cam videos and photos.

So getting bent out of shape over upskirts on the internet is like getting outraged that a pizza delivery driver would have sex with women he's delivering pizza to or a cable guy who comes over to fix the cable and just because the tenants were two girls who just got out of the shower, he automatically thinks it's time for a 3-some. What I'm saying is just because you saw it in a porno doesn't mean it is real. Even "reality porn" is faked.

If you happen to be someone that is a victim of an upskirt, then you were victimized by a pervert, not someone who is trying to break into the porn industry.

So maybe it's good the upskirts are on the internet so the perverts will be fooled by fake upskirts and stay in the basement jerkin it to that instead of trying to hit the streets to make their own.

    • People are stupid, and idiots,
this will always happen, there's not stopping it, with the advance in technology, and the morals women are losing nowadays, it's bound to happen, you want to think "daughters" then talk to your kids about it, teach them the values in life, like respect, and all that.
To the person who said where have all the morals gone in men, it's not the men who have problems, BOTH genders have there problems, it's not really the male/female's fault, it's bad parenting/bad friends/bad raising. You want this to stop, then talk to your children, warn them about the dangers in the world, and just raise them right, and eventually this MIGHT go away.
and to the other person who said the women ASK for "perverts" to take pics, again you wear really short skirts, it's bound to happen at least once, if your wearing a skirt that's knee length, then whatever, it's still boung to happen.

and just for those who twist words and comments around, (i've read like 5 in this comment box thingy already)
im not giving excuses to the "perverts", im not saying it's the male/female that's asking for it, i'm merely stating what SHOULD have been stated previously.
So, to wrap this up, people are again really stupid.
OH, and with times/fads/peoples view on everything changing relatively fast(more or less every year/10years for views and whatnot.) it's probably expected that this will happen ALOT. i mean come on, seriously, did your parents do this 50 years ago? did your brother do this? doubtfull, but with today's kids, and parents totally disregarding the thought to teach there kids' values/morals(well for the ones that are rich, or semi rich) again it's expected, there's probably no stopping it, like one person stated, with the advance of today's technology, they have button camera's, cell phones that can zoom alot and everything else along those lines.
i can't remember a time when i went to a party and someone spiked the punch bowl, or girls that dress extremely slutty and then get raped or drugged.
again, it's not the kid's or woman/man's fault, it's either bad parenting, or no parenting at all. some people didn't have a parent like mine, or like yours that taught you to do this or that, there's over a million kids that are homeless/in social services that dont have good parents, most parents that take in orhans are probably just in it for the money, im not sure, (my opinion not statistics, no research has been done)

seriously, just the today i read an article about a 15 year old prostitute, she made 14 thousand dollars in two months, did she all of a sudden think one day " hey, i need money to buy those slutty clothes i see on alot of celebs, and my parents won't let me, im to young for a job, f*** it, i'll suck d**k and f*** for cash"

no 15 year old person thinks that way unless they weren't raised properly. (again, im not basing my "properly raised" criteria on statistics or research, just on what/how i/my friends/family/fellow students were raised)

It could be worse--your face could be in the picture, or worse yet--you might not be wearing underwear (which I do not recommend).

All you can do it kick the guy in the face and hope some teeth fall out. Complaining about a theoretical situation online is about as useless an activity as I can think of.

I like the kick the guy in the face thing. People should be punished by the people wrongd. Just after I get kicked can I still keep the photo as long as your face is'nt on it? The thing that bothers me is harassment. Like in japan they totoly are not cool. If I seen that I would take the camera and shove it up his azz myself. And I like upskirt.

    • are you serious bailey78?!? you obviously dont know anything about womens clothing (or the female body) for one and apparently you are one of those people who thinks that if a woman gets raped she was asking for it because she looked pretty. I wear thigh length skirts regularly and I have never flashed anyone my bits before and trust me, I am a lady.

Oh yeah and I have been violated by having a stalker take upskirt photos of me using hidden cameras and guess what, some of those skirts where below the knee! Are you saying I LET that happen to me? Because I sure as hell didnt let some psycho pervert violate me and make my life a living hell for months.

People like you need to reevaluate your view on women.

As long as your face dont get on the net who cares. Liten up :) but in a way I agree with you if people harass a person to get the shot in front of others thats not cool. Also its not a true up skirt in my book. It's like a girl looking at a guy in a towel with you know what peeking out by all means take a photo. Just leave my face out of it and dont make a seen mann. I feel the secret is what makes it fun and ok. If your trying to make money off it like a greedy idiot well you need help.

    • Um...lets think about this. Technology keeps getting better and skirts keep getting shorter.....I lived in Japan for a while I was there I saw the coolest technology and shortest skirts. Add those two factors and the fact men will always be pervets and I've come to the conclusion this is something society is going to just have to accept (upskirt photography that is).

    • Oh for...iamdoc you MUST be kidding..."deveneering recently established social norms?" So you are telling us that these guys are some kind of progressive FOLK HEROES, now? They are peepers, for heaven's sake. They are pathetic losers, and the fact that there have been pathetic losers down through history does not really lend them a patina (or "veneer") of respectability.

The litmus test for this is REALLY easy. All the progressive folk hero needs to do is approach the lady in question and politely ask whether she would mind if he took a few photos up her skirt as she ascended the stairs or escalator, or whatever. If she says "yes" then heck, even I am OK with their little photo shoot at that point. But of course the reason they DON'T ask is because they KNOW they are just peeping parasites. However, I can see how our heroes may just be shy. So I would propose the following rule: if the lady in question decided to wear a sign on her back saying "please take pictures up my skirt" then our heroes should feel free to do so. Being so heroic, however, in the absence of such a sign they will, of course, refrain out of deference to the absence of any permission to do so. Can't imagine why this wouldn't work (right). If you are wondering why I am so worked up about this, think "daughters"

Its somewhere between Porn and the Real and Authentic. It is not really de-evolution its simply de-veneering and reversing several social norms we have built over the past few centuries.

    • I simply cannot wrap my brain around this at all. In the end, each of us knows that when we meet the people we respect most they will judge us by the quality of our character. Moreover, in the darkest hours of our lives our character is the only true yardstick we have for taking our own measure. How does our society raise children who spend their entire lives as infants like these? Has NOBODY ever spoken to them about the importance of honor? integrity? judgement? compassion? courage? decency? How is that even possible? This is repellant, revolting behavior -- akin to licking a toilet seat or touching a child inappropriately. I don't know if such people are even capable of shame, but the only punishment that seems appropriate to me is that those caught in the act should be named and pictured in the local media so that their neighbors can be warned that these pathetic, dishonorable losers are living among them. I am sorry this is disjointed. The words just escape me on this one.

    • Ugh. That's disgusting. Regardless of what a woman is wearing, her body is not public property for people to do with as they wish.

As for short skirts--above the knee is not that short, and I don't care if you're stark naked, nobody has the right to do anything you don't agree to. And last time I checked, the length of one's skirt has nothing to do with being a lady.

    • "If your going to wear a skirt that's above the knees you "exspect" things like this to happen"..?! Are you fucking kidding me?

A mini skirt that barely covers your ass is one thing, but a skirt just above the knees doesn't mean a woman is "allowing" freaky perverts to take pictures up her dress. "Oh no, her ankle showed from underneath her burqa, so I had to rape her and then stone her to death."

On Halloween last year, there were events going on downtown, so all these people were milling about in their costumes. There were two little girls, probably about 9 years old, sitting on a bench. One was dressed as a ballerina, the other a fairy princess or something. I was walking very swiftly down the street with my friend, and just as we passed these girls, this old guy drops his camera down near the ground and attempts to snap a shot up these poor children's skirts. Luckily, I think my friend and I blocked his shot, but it was the most disgusting thing I have seen in a long time.

According to your logic, those little girls could have "expected" this to happen; they "allowed" it because they weren't ladies. huh.

"a lady wouldn't allow something like this to happen to her"? are you serious? i'll wear what i please, as is comfortable for me, and make sure to keep my knees together when sitting, thanks. if someone is taking a picture under my skirt, that means he is out of line, not me because i wear what looks good on my body. i am not a flasher because i wear skirts or dresses above the knee, that means i am looking feminine that day. just because your culture marks knees as sexually suggestive doesn't mean mine does, keep your mind out of the gutter over my knee caps, thanks.

I worked in a photo lab for a while, and we used to get rolls of film with these shots. They'd always make me feel kinda sorry for the bloke who took the shots... I mean, really?
