After launching in the US about 2 years ago Google Street finally hits our UK streets, which is fab i suppose. Well if your a driver and you want to have a look at where your going to go before you get there then this is a great service for you. Almost like looking into the future or force feeding your brain into having a de ja vu?! hmmmmm Well whatever the weather people that are seen on Google street that have said to be blurred, some are clear to see exactly who they are. So if you see a Google car then run!!!!!!!

    • Actually, they already have several law suits in the UK about the Street View. Seems a few people where shown on TV News showing faces and all. One going into a Sex Shop. They loved to show that on the news of course. To me this is the worst kind of privacy invasion. I take Google Earth, google map, but showing people in detail on the street - whats next ?

    • on the one hand, my curiosity and procrastination neurons shout 'huzzah!' this has been eagerly awaited..

but wait, they didn't blur out faces or people's front rooms? just, what?

    • Everyday I get to see the outside of my flat when I leave in the morning and get home in the evening and yet I still just got *really* excited about seeing it on the internet.

This sort of echoes how much more fun it is these days to leave stupid messages on people's Facebook walls these instead of bothering to talk to them in real life.

    • Can you get sat navs linked to to Google street view? You could sit back and drive using street view (probably not recommended) but it would definitely look quite cool.

Brilliant I like the idea of following the car and being in literally every shot around one town.

It could be like the "where's Wally' Books, popping up in different poses and outfits.

    • This is a great idea - I am terrible at geography and map reading (no jokes guys) so having a visual guide would be great. Also, maybe it'll stop all the crack dealers hanging around on our street.....

    • It seems there's nothing that Google Street View misses, a few months back it pictured a house mid blaze in Arkansas.

Not a great reminder for the home owners...

Do we really need Street View in the UK, or is just another voyeuristic means to satisfy our desire to want to know everything going on around us?

    • Google street view can sometimes captures all sorts of goings on, the car that takes the pictures once hit a deer, and it was there on street view for all to see ...
