Is MS Office finally coming to the iPhone?

Rumours of Microsoft functionality on the iPhone have been a staple part of the internet rumourmongers for far too long, so I'm sure they'll all be pleased to know that there might actually be some truth coming from their speculation.
Jason Kincaid was blogging from the Web 2.0 Expo keynote, where Microsoft's Pres of Business Divison, Stephen Elop, reportedly let slip that we could all be hinted that we may about to see MS Office on the iPhone soon. Although after his keynote, he seemingly backtracked a bit saying “not yet, keep watching”.
Do you really need Office that much on your iPhone? Surely if people need to edit stuff that badly it can wait until they get to their computer...?
