Pingie takes any RSS feed and alerts you of new items in that feed via SMS message. Pingie is free, and doesn't require you to have an internet enabled, or smart phone to use. It will work on any cell phone with text messaging capabilities. You could use this service to get weather updates, traffic info, flight updates, EBay updates, or keep track of new craigslist items, basically anything that has an RSS feed, can be sent to your phone. It's very easy to set up, just enter your phone number, email address, and the link to the RSS feed you want it to pull information from. If that sounds like a good way for you to get spammed with annoying emails and calls saying that your car insurance is about to run out, it's because it is. But Pingie doesn't stoop to that level, I've been using it for a while, and I have received just the information I want, and nothing else. So check out this neat useful little service, and tell us what you think, and what your using it for.
