Fires Rage Through Central America

Having just read about the deadly wildfires in Texas and Oklahoma, I was interested to see whether one of NASA’s Earth-monitoring satellites have been tracking the situation from orbit. Whether it is too early for observations to come in, or whether one of the satellites have yet to make a pass directly above the states it is unclear, but along the way I noticed a rather striking image of the Yucatan Peninsula, Central America. In the picture retrieved by NASA’s Aqua satellite are countless wildfires dotted over Mexico, Guatemala and Honduras. It looks like a combination of arson, agricultural activity and accidental blazes are gripping the region, fuelled by dry vegetation…

On viewing the imagery from the Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) instrument on board the Aqua satellite, it is hard to comprehend the scale of the wildfire-affected region. MODIS can detect areas of intense heat, allowing NASA’s Earth Observatory program to pinpoint the location and scale of burning vegetation. Red spots (fires) cover southern Mexico, on the Yucatan Peninsula, and in northern Guatemala and northern Honduras and smoke hangs over Campeche Bay in the Gulf of Mexico. This scene isn’t just caused by dry weather, it is a symptom of the pressure being applied to the tropical region by human activity. Land is at a premium in these developing regions of the world, so there is a need for farmers and loggers to clear vast areas of land to economise on the dry conditions to spread the fire. November to May are particularly difficult months as this is central America’s dry season.

It's clear to me how vastly superior you are both intellectually and on the chain of human worth than the rest of us mere mortals.

-------"...... but you're not on my level."--------

I think you should be happy for that Jubal.

    • no jubali, the Nazis don't "own" the right to reduce population. yes, you're right, they targeted certain people.
i'm talking about across the board ways to reduce humans on this planet, safely and legally. you know what, i'm not here to teach basics, inform yourself; no offense, but you're not on my level.

    • Nazi's were very well known for their mass murder to reduce certain populations. Advocating for the destruction of the human population is very Naziesque.

100% that's what i'm saying my friend! if there was one thing that i could magically make come true, it would be: stop the overpopulation of our species. don't get me wrong, we need new people of course to replace dying ones.

but when you see all these wars, homeless people, slums, diseases, and destruction of environment; it's clear, there is too many of us, there is no but about it. almost 6 billion, really? we are no different then cockroaches or rats, except that rats and roaches don't cut down rainforests to make toilet paper. there is a reason why ebola, bird flu, and aids exist.

Have you ever given thought to the fact that 1% of the population of the planet controls 95% of the world's wealth and resources? Don't you think that this disparity is perhaps why there are so many poor people in poverty?

This planet has the resources to support the existing population and even more, but what we cannot support is allowing these super rich elite to continue to spread their propaganda about population control in the name of profits.

You are a human. You live in a developed country, therefore you consume more than 20 times the amount of natural resources that people living in underdeveloped countries consume.

------"but when you see all these wars, homeless people, slums, diseases, and destruction of environment; it's clear, there is too many of us, there is no but about it. almost 6 billion, really? we are no different then cockroaches or rats, except that rats and roaches don't cut down rainforests to make toilet paper. there is a reason why ebola, bird flu, and aids exist."--------

YOU are the reason that wars, homeless people, slums, diseases and destruction of the environment exist----because YOU are doing nothing to correct the situation. YOU are no different than cockroaches or rats, except that cockroachs and rats simply exist to survive---however, you have an intellect to know the difference between good and evil, yet you choose to do nothing to create good, therefore you are evil. YOU choose to consume scarce resources in spite of the fact that it brings evil to others----therefore, you create more evil.

      Jesus said in Luke 16:

19There was a certain rich man, which was clothed in purple and fine linen, and fared sumptuously every day:

20And there was a certain beggar named Lazarus, which was laid at his gate, full of sores,

21And desiring to be fed with the crumbs which fell from the rich man's table: moreover the dogs came and licked his sores.

      22And it came to pass, that the beggar died, and was carried by the angels into Abraham's bosom: the rich man also died, and was buried;

23And in hell he lift up his eyes, being in torments, and seeth Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom.

24And he cried and said, Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus, that he may dip the tip of his finger in water, and cool my tongue; for I am tormented in this flame.

25But Abraham said, Son, remember that thou in thy lifetime receivedst thy good things, and likewise Lazarus evil things: but now he is comforted, and thou art tormented.

26And beside all this, between us and you there is a great gulf fixed: so that they which would pass from hence to you cannot; neither can they pass to us, that would come from thence.

27Then he said, I pray thee therefore, father, that thou wouldest send him to my father's house:

28For I have five brethren; that he may testify unto them, lest they also come into this place of torment.

29Abraham saith unto him, They have Moses and the prophets; let them hear them.

30And he said, Nay, father Abraham: but if one went unto them from the dead, they will repent.

31And he said unto him, If they hear not Moses and the prophets, neither will they be persuaded, though one rose from the dead.

      >>>JUBAL, i think of everything, I'm an Oracle. I know that there is a disparity of wealth, but what does that have to do with the fact that there is too many humans in too many places? Nothing. Profit from cutting down the population or not, we don't need more species extinct and forest cut down, so we can have more humans! Imbalance of species, think about it.

Besides, this planet does NOT have everything to support everyone on it. They said it would take 3 or 4, planets earth, to make everyone on earth live like America.

      >>>WETDOG, god is a myth, and all those quotes from scripture are just stories passed on down the years, the world is NOT 2000 years old. take your unproven religious agenda to someone with a weaker mind, I'm an Oracle, and see right through religion. religion is a game, a story, it's baseless and fake.

yes, i'm aware that I consume more since i'm in a developed country, what do ya want me to do, move? i recycle, i pick up trash, i ride my bike, i feed animals, and i'm an all around citizen, so don't give me your religious guilt, because i'm higher on the intellectual and human worth chain, ok? i know, it's harsh, but true.

i'm evil? how do you know that, you brainwashed assumer? there is no good and evil, it's all how you look at it. your precious church advocates to NOT use contraceptives, that's good right? but then people are born unwanted and make gangs, end up homeless, and clear out other animal's terrain to make room for more humans. you have much to learn! so the chruch creates crime, poverty, and environmental damage, but avocating more humans in this overpopulated planet. what do you think about that? thing's aren't so good/evil, black/white as you think, are they? be honest with your self. put down the bible, and pick up an academic book, you drone.

and how am i evil? i don't run things? i advocate less humans, return nature to balance, while people like you just want more humans in this planet and are blinded by your empty gang, what you call religion. religion is poison.
