Electric cars may be set for long trips on the roads of South Korea, after the country's top technology university developed a method to power the cars while on the road.
The technique produced at the Korea Advanced Instituite of Science and Technology, involves recharging strips embedded within roads that will transfer energy to the vehicles – a similar technique to that of electric toothbrushes. Cars with sensor-driven magnetic devices on their underside can take-in up energy as they travel over the strips without coming into direct contact.
Although in the early stages of development, developers aim to insert power strips approx. 20 cm (8 inches) to 90 cm (35 inches) wide and perhaps several hundred meters long, into the top of the roads.

Interesting concept, and if it works efficiently, then a great way to save having to stop and plug it into the mains every 50 miles.
