Okay, I'm ready. Bring in the Soylent Green scoop trucks. Scoop me out with the useless Old Folks so the newly-brainwashed can have some space.

"Well, they are embracing it, it's a start": Adamr107 makes an interesting comment. Yes, on the SURFACE sometimes things look positive. I choose to look a bit deeper because I'm GRAVITY MAN. The Pope commands about 1.3 billion dues-paying parishioners. So he would be relatively sure Facebook stock would go UP when he started being a Player, right? (counting on his young Church members of the Catholic flock to herd in as new Facebook users).
Chances are the Vatican invested heavily in one shape or form, directly or indirectly but most likely both directly AND many indirect ways before they made their move on the surface, which is all we see. As always, the Catholic Church preys on the ignorance of its followers. This was just a move to shore up a religion when the contribution plates began sagging in the world economic crisis wake.
I am a very religious person and I find much comfort from the true messages in the Bible because they are so simple to learn NO ONE NEEDS A POPE AS INTERPRETER OR DELIVERER.

"While warning against the potential use of new media to spread violent messages and pornography, the 82-year-old Benedict also has encouraged young Catholics to use the Internet responsibly.
On Wednesday he told pilgrims at his weekly audience in St. Peter's Square that young people should use the Internet to build a better world through bonds of friendship and solidarity..."
So yeah, all of the evil things that have been done down through the ages in the name of religion are pretty well known to all of us. And a good number of the positions this Pope has taken strike me as wrong-headed, dangerous and dangerously naive, and hypocritical in the extreme as the Church struggles to fund all of the lawsuits against it and its priest-rapists.
Anybody who could not bash the Church completely out of the ballpark is either not paying attention or is just now learning English as a second language.
But the Pope is far from stupid and he DOES come out with a good message from time-to-time. I happen to know quite a few people who are 82 years old or thereabouts. Even among those with the financial resources to do so, I don't see many of them (OK, ANY of them) being interested in putting up a facebook page or encouraging people to use the Internet not just as a forum for debate or for protest but also as a place to find common ground with one another). I like that message -- especially coming from him for a change...

Get over it, all this is would be digital post cards. Not even a recorded mass or anything else interesting enough to warrant a story about.
All it is would be postcards, and still religion gets bashed. If you don't like the religion, then don't use the digital post card application. Simple as that.

Maybe holding his hands out that way is BRAGGING about the size of his piece of the PIE... or hand signalling the World how big next Sunday's donation plate he expects to be filled to overflowing by his being in FACEbook. Look into my face. You are getting drowsy, and also very very sleepy. Now open your wallet my friend and I will bestow more SWEATY PALMS ON YOU, and my holy sweat will purify you enough to make you acceptable to Christ Jesus.

I just kinda get tired of looking INTO HIS SWEATY PALMS. Is that a hypnotic or subliminal sleight a hand trick, or is he trying to wave up a big cloud to ride up in the air and meet Christ? Anybody got a clue what the hand signals in the face is all about? Jesus. And the pasted on smile isn't helping. Has he died and they inserted a mannequin like they did in the original Star Trek TV shows with uh er what's is name oh yeah, William Shatner.
Even Shatner didn't force people to look into his palms. WoW, an epiphany just hit me hard between the eyes. Shatner started a religion it would outnumber Catholicism; and the papal hats would go back into a monastery. NO MORE SWEATY PALMS PROBLEM SOLVED.

I'm a Confirmed Catholic.
Only I am allowed to make fun of the Pope, his prada shoes, and his bullet proof popemobile.
Oh and his space rocket shaped hat that he uses to blast off into space and talk with God.
