Dr. Vandana Shiva: The Future of Food and Seed

JanforGore
Incredible lecture recently given by Dr. Vandana Shiva on the future of food and seed. The preservation of the bija as Dr. Shiva refers to here is the secret of life itself. Monsanto kills life and therefore they will fail. They may see profits in $$$$$ for a time but they will fail where it really matters if we as Dr. Shiva stated at the end of this video, stand together and hold hands worldwide. And in this lecture she covers the entire movement from beginning to end giving us truth, inspiration, and hope. How I love this intelligent, brave, visionary woman!

    • We have been sharing heirloom seeds for many years. Our 'seedman' collects, keeps and distributes them.
Organic is the way to go for our safe being and for mother earth, because she sustains us.

    • Thanks for the link. Organic sales did grow by 17 percent in 2008, and I foresee that happening again this year. People are becoming more aware of just what the food industry is all about now and are choosing to go organic at least on some items, even if it costs a bit more. I also see some brands moving to take certain ingredients out of their foods and offer more of a choice because of consumer pressure. I too agree with you about the price issue, but I think it is partly because organics are seen as a luxury item instead of how we should be eating due to the intense PR of GMOs and proliferation of industrial farming in this country. Hopefully, that will change very soon.

    • I really enjoyed listening to your clear and concise points of view on Food and Seed. Its a immensely important subject. You mentioned organic farming as a necessity for out future and couldn't agree more. The issue I think many people have are the price points of the organic foods. I've provided a link to an article which details fruits and veggies that should be purchased organically and others which you can get away with not purchasing organically. In this economy it may not always be feasible to make all organic purchases but we should be aware of which are extremely beneficial to buy organic.
