Being an archaeologist is much more than being able to find the next big piece of history; it's about being fashionable while you do it.

The metal detector sandals from creators Hammacher Schlemmer, allow budding discoverers to feel the vibrations and buzzes from the anklet pack whenever they step over a metal object as low as 2 feet beneath the surface.

    • awesome. i can't believe these weren't invented before. it's such an obvious idea...yet who knows how many people will actually buy them. they might look strange slowly walking across a beach by themselves, shuffling their feet and intently listening for beeps...lol.

    • As much as I think these are a great idea, the big fat cynic in me is saying 2 grains of sand in the mini-USB port and they'll just be another pair of sandals.

      Still, great idea.

    • What a brilliant idea. Not sure if I could bring myself to wear sandals though, as I'm far too cool for that.

Cool in attitude I mean - my feet are horrible and sweaty.
