LCD MacBook Logo Mod

[Eddie], who made the Mac Logo LCD Mod, had posted a step by step tutorial on how to do it yourself. He basically just fully disassembled his MacBook, popped out the logo, put one from an iBook or Powerbook, then mounted a small LCD back there and routed it into a USB port internally. He says the extra electronics cause a tiny bulge in the monitor casing. We wonder if this couldn’t lead to stress damage on the main LCD in the long run.

    • Very cool, everyone loves mods but its like a camera on your mobile when they first came out, cool awesome and you use it a lot and show it off to ure mates then just your not bothered about it anymore and u look at it like its just something that is kinda pointless, you'll hardly ever want to use and wastes battery life :P

    • Nice find Lordsbassman, I found some guy that had modded his Apple Logo on his MacBook to work as a second monitor a few months ago. Check it at the link, I *love* how ingenious some modders out there are.

    • "Ok now you need to go ahead and disassemble your MacBook. Yes.. this WILL void the warranty. Use the guides at iFixit to remove your Logic Board and Screen (HERE). You are going to need to remove the screen from the bottom half of the computer.
Get down to the Lid of the macbook. Remove that white material and that like cushion stuff and get rid of it and get down to the logo. You need to pop off the Apple Logo. You will notice it is painted white on the inside. You have a couple options. One you can wetsand and buff out the paint or you can replace it with a logo from a ibook or powerbook. It works out really well since back then apple left the logos clear."
