    • I work in a very noisy environment. Large turbine pumps, compressors, large blowers....and then all of the other noises associated with them.
I come home...I live in a very rural area, and it is so quiet...and I mean quiet.
It takes several hours before my ears to quit ringing, but when they do quit, I can sit on my porch and hear my own heart beat.
I am very lucky to live where I do. Unfortunately, I am at work more than I am home:(

    • Chimpanzees often are very noisy indeed, too, especially when they become angry and when males go into what is called "display". :)

    • I really appreciated the article the link took me too, thank you for posting this stopnoise... i love music, but there are some cars that have their base turned up so loud it hurts, i feel split apart - are they called boom cars or something. i also find pool pumps (do they really have to be on all day when no one uses them?), the air conditioners people put on the outside of their houses (so they can't hear them on the inside), and leaf blowers all hurt and irritate - they have frequencies that are not healthy for life (not just humans).... they all add up to one cacophony of irritation not realized until they stop and you understand how the noises have really made you feel...
