Bring Current News and Vicky BACK TO CURRENT TV!

This is clear in every single post regarding the Current Community. It always gets brought up - Why no more hourly news? Why don't we see the users on TV as much anymore? It was awesome, Vicky was awesome, and we want them back - is Current Media for the people or will you dismiss the voice of your demographic?
I'm trying to get 1,000 signatures. I have no guarantee that Current will listen and deviate from whatever plans they may have, but you never know if you don't try!

And I bet you'll get a 1000 signatures on this. But just try getting people to sign one about an important issue like climate change or the abrogation of our civil liberties. Amazing.

JanforGore:
I knew it. I absolutely called it. I said to my fiancee this morning "I bet a million dollars Jan will come into this post and complain about how unimportant it is."
I have signed all the petitions you've put up. I've spread them around all the web sources that I spread other things around on; my Twitter, Facebook, Blog, etc. This is the first time I've tried this website for petition creating. I figured I'd start with something "close to home", something that was about the Current Community specifically. Current is important to me.
If it's not important enough for you to be bothered with, don't sign- but don't you get sick of being so negative all the time? Don't you get sick of thinking only the causes you care about are important? Do you look at things from other points of view before you start spewing your predictable opinion?

Just try getting any action done on this even if there are twice that many on the petition.
That is no different results than the causes you feel are important

If Delia does get that many signatures it's due to her positive personality and kick ass promotional abilities. when it comes to promoting a petition it helps that the promoter is friendly and widely respected.

JanforGore:
The difference is also that petitions on climate change and the like, extremely broad and complex issues, are essentially futile. I sign them anyway sometimes, but not with and delusions as to their potential impact. This could actually make a difference, however insubstantial, for our community.
And I still hold that the best petition for climate change is to reduce and eliminate your support for the corporations and institutions most responsible for it. Their balance sheets are the only petitions they care about.

"Their balance sheets are the only petitions they care about." that is the same thing in this situation with the same likelihood of anything being done for the same reasons

Delia, you are amazing. Jan is just BB. She basically signed it by making such a stupid comment, though, so you still come out on top.

There wasn't alot of users, there was alot of constant members on. To me, there seems to be a new account every time I get on telling me how this gaming aricle has failed or how the Offspring sucks because they are old.
And yes, there was spam post. A couple of my articles had spam comments on them.

I agree with onemalefla. Before, there wasn't any "I H8 THIS!!1!!!! FAIL!!!" Its was simply vote it down and hope it doesn't do well. DeliatheArtist had to bring up the issue already but that was before what it is now.

Hi all. I can't speak about Current News, but what I can tell you is that as one of the producers for Current Tonight, we are trying our best to feature as many of your submissions as possible, whether it's in the form of a post, comment or webcam. We are trying to feature a mix of hard news with more pop culture subjects in a daily half hour, and while there is not a measured 'game' as there was with Current News, we would like every story to be from a Current.com user and we certainly take popularity and activity into account.
We hope you'll check us out if you're interested in contributing – I know we use many of your submissions already and we appreciate your continued support!

No, not necessarily, as we try to look everywhere on the site for material, but it helps us find things if you add the tag. Or send us a tweet! @CurrentTonight

I signed the petition even though I doubt it will have much impact
Mafioso has a point since every decision that has been made gives evidence that supports that conclusion.
No matter what Mario has claimed they are doing for plans to include more user feedback, what they have actually done is exactly what Mafioso pointed out.
I am not surprised since the pressures to gather ratings and sponsors to pay the bills is pretty high, but I am disappointed that they say one thing and do another.

Argon18:
That was why I signed the petition anyway, since as they say "If you don't bet then you can't win"
At the very least it sends a signal to them, but unfortunately, whenever else the users have done that, they have just deflected it and not directly done anything about it.
I understand the business motives that drive it, but at least they can be more honest about it.

Perhaps if they had a membership fee that could offset some of the perceived losses by not supporting members. Is that a doable thing?

Argon18:
It would be more cost effective to pay someone to do the voice for them than to constantly try to tweak the text to speech program so that it would be clearly understandable.
I don't know what the budget for it would be but would going to charging membership fees be worth it?
If members were going to pay for more interaction and feedback into the network to get more of their content on TV that would certainly be worth it but it would more than likely cost a bundle.
Either it would have to be spread out among a whole lot of people to be affordable or some with more to contribute would have to cover the rest.

Why are you guys surprised?, every platform that gets it's boost from it's users quickly dumps them and goes for the money... in the form of sponsored programming and focusing on more lucrative subjects and topics of discussion. We are no longer needed!
