Think America's ready to join the rest of the world? In Asia and Europe, the majority of mobile phones used are unlocked. This makes it easy to switch SIM cards as needed. I think it's about time. The proliferation of unlocked phones in the US market will enable fiercer competition between carriers because switching carriers will be as easy as switching your SIM card.
