Speaking to CNet about Microsoft's in-development technology, Gates said: "I'd say a cool example of that, that you'll see... in a little over a year, is this (depth) camera thing."

There is no way that women is actually doing any of that. It's all staged for a preview of what it might be like. I hate that crap! Like the playstation eyetoy or whatever. The press release stuff was amazing and then it came out and it sucked.

hoboninja54:
You need to do your homework. The Milo demo shown in the above shot (and most press videos), as well as a burnout-style racing demo were made available to members of the gaming press behind closed doors at E3. Many from websites such as IGN and joystiq played with it, and almost everyone appears impressed with the level of sophistication in the implementation.
The difference between the hardware in the eyetoy (aka xbox live vision camera) and Natal is the depth perception. Natal is capable of telling how far you are from the screen. Something the other hardware could not.
So, in short. Not staged.

I think the application for this goes much further than just being a childs toy- interacting verbally and visually with your computers GUI and OS to sort, search and use applications and data, combined with Surface functionality, could reach into Medicine, data management, crime prevention as well as consumer hot points.
It's great to see Microsoft innovating somewhere.

Its nice to see that Bill Gates has read Ray Bradbury's works (or maybe just Fahrenheit 451 in High School). He knows exactly what will addict millions into staying in front of thier TVs and computers not ever having to leave their homes to talk to their closest friends and relitives.

ReganMann, if you let technology get between you and your friends you are just anti social, it has nothing to do with bill gates. There is no reason to blame him for other peoples choices to use the technology, if it's so bad for you, THEN DON'T USE IT. Just because you can't balance or think other people can't balance face to face interaction with a phone call or time spent in front of a television. Doesn't mean people like me and many other self respecting responsible people who use the technology to be productive and increase their quality of life should have to live without. If anything instead of complaining about bill gates ruining our world, how about you learn something about technology and teach other people how to be responsible and efficient.
