In this video Tokyo researchers explain how utilizing ultrasonic waves coupled with holographic imagery and motion tracking the researchers has created a way to interact with the holograms… and potentially have them interact back.

    • Yeah, from what I've been told by friends attending is that it is much better in person, yet still not "actual" holograms. The effect of force feedback and texture is where the product rocks.

    • Sounds cool, but I really didn't see the hologram "popping out". Maybe it doesn't have the same effect when recorded and needs to be seen by the eye to be understood.

      I'm not buyin it, from what I can see, the image never leaves the backdrop and as we look at it, as you said, it doesn't appear to pop out. Maybe this is just something I would have to see in person, but as a youtube video, not credible.

      Not to mention, when the hand was having the drops fall and splash, the person never really moved his hand up or down... WTFudge mate?
