Didn't GM sell the rights or patent for high efficiency batteries to one of the oil companies?
I was doing energy management in the 70's and they bought everything they could get their hands on, then shelved them.
Oil companies are calling themselves energy providers now. Hang onto your wallet, it's gonna get bumpy. - 2 years ago

Why do all these kind of cars look like the ones I drew in the margins of my math notes back in junior high?

The last step is regenerative shocks. Once those are in place the vehicles will be so efficient with no energy lost to speeding or rough terrain and in fact will be preserved to extend the range requiring less from the batteries and making them more affordable. Obviously it would also save on maintenence for both breaks and shcoks so its a win + win. We just need to invent the technology.

313 hp has PLENTY of snap. I am not super excited about the headlight design (a giant "F?") but otherwise very nice. Willing to test drive. Now.

a college professor with a hundred thousand dollar plus supercar? OK to heck with health care reform. The education system is obviously more messed up.

umm... 4.8 seconds is still pretty dang fast.
a comparison page; http://www.zeroto60times.com/It's not modern Ferrari fast but it is 90's Ferrari fast. It's comparable to say a modern jaguar XK or a Maserati granturismo. Admittedly that's also the range of say the higher end V8 camaros or the Ford mustang bullit which are not 100k vehicles. This one shouldn't be either though.
This is around the same kind of speed the highest end race cars of the 60's like the Shelby Cobras could pull though so it's probably fast enough.

its bound to happen that auto makers find better ways to make electric automobiles that are more efficient and a hell of a alot more appealing, but i will say this is quite elegant.

How much is a Volt? A Prius? - 2 years ago

bobbatt:
A volt is about 40,000, which shows how insane the management of GM is since the average American can not afford a 40,000 car.
Prius, last time I checked was about 27,000. They need to build a basic electirc car for about 15,000..

Top Gear's main complaint was it ran out of power too soon and took too long to recharge. If audi fixed that problem I think the guys and even Jeremy clarkson will love the car. POWER!
