NASA Levitates Mice in Magnetic Field

Image

Researchers have levitated small mice in a powerful magnetic field that simulates the gravity-free world of space. Their work calls attention to a technology that could help unravel a range of phenomena from the physics of fluids to the genetic underpinnings of osteoporosis.

I'm pretty sure the mouse was not harmed, but I can't help but think that strong electro-magnets must be bad for you in some way. How strong these particular magnets were, I don't know.

    • Well, that's pretty interesting. You know, some things are just so far out, so trippy, that it never really sinks in. By all means, I should be leaping around waving my arms exclaiming that we've created artificial zero-gravity here on Earth, even for mouse-size only. But... I'm not. It's impressive and all, but I feel like it's missing something. Where's the "Wow-factor" gone? Srsly, where'd it go. Oh well.

Good work, Science, as always. I'm still behind you, even when you don't wow me. Thumbs up for levitating mice.
