The Venus Project

Chris_Globus
The Venus Project presents a bold, new direction for humanity that entails nothing less than the total redesign of our culture. There are many people today who are concerned with the serious problems that face our modern society: unemployment, violent crime, replacement of humans by technology, over-population and a decline in the Earth's ecosystems.

As you will see, The Venus Project is dedicated to confronting all of these problems by actively engaging in the research, development, and application of workable solutions. Through the use of innovative approaches to social awareness, educational incentives, and the consistent application of the best that science and technology can offer directly to the social system, The Venus Project offers a comprehensive plan for social reclamation in which human beings, technology, and nature will be able to coexist in a long-term, sustainable state of dynamic equilibrium.

    • Logan's run may have occured after an apocalypse, however, since resources were scarce, population control was instituted by terminating ones life at the age of 30. Don't think for a second that the powers that be haven't entertained a similar ideology.

    • I find it interesting that this post has more responses than any other in the tech or green categories, and made it to numbers 1 and 2 respectively, but never made the "promoted" spot.

I'm not sure, I had thought it was based on popularity within the category. And I'm just of the opinion that a post about a group that's promoting one possible sustainable future would be more relevant than a blog about how Twilight is a sustainable allegory. IMHO

BTW - I should have said "featured", not "promoted".

current doesnt work like that...i've had a few number 1 hits but none were featured...and some were actual big stories...don't get upset..just stay persistent and create a group(something i have to get to doing myself)

    • Too bad that Today man/women of the status quo are slave and using technology to actually abuse others. But I am an optimist and sometimes I really think man/women, the status quo will wake up and change their ways. Good video and Great words of wisdom anyways! Thanks!

    • I totally dig what they say and even took time to pickup the book by Jacques Fresco. I wonder what it'll take to get this system going in our lifetimes.

    • Corporations are too addicted to the money = power equation . The would destroy everything first . If we can get past that , it might be worth a try .

    • very soon i will be looking for funding on a system of solar energy production that will supply all electrical needs. my system is complicated because it uses many simple devices in use today but in a balanced, mutually re-enforcing way.
after watching these videos i am excited to see the most obvious outlet for this system. my concern has been, being negated by big oil money and my system buried, endlessly in environmental impact reports.

    • Wonderfully idealistic... but they seem to have forgotten to factor in one thing... HUMAN NATURE. We are a brutal, destructive, self-indulgent asshole of a species... I love the idea of this, but I am jaded to idealism by the reality of the world we live in. C'est la vie

    • StrangE2U:

There is no such thing as HUMAN NATURE. There is only Human Behavior that is developed through environmental stimuli.

      i.e.
You put an animal in a cage, u get a pissed off animal.
You put a human in a society that breeds corruption, self-indulgence, and destruction, and, well, u should get the point by now.

The Venus Project is designed to eliminate the root causes to societies most detrimental problems.

Do some digging and you'll all find it's not as far off as it seems.

It's been said before...what we focus on we tend to increase. If we hadn't already found a way to put down all those nasty behaviors you pointed out, we'd still be primates! Are you really that jaded, or just missing some info?

Learning to shift focus onto what we need to do, vs. what we want to do, is what makes us human. That's not an idea. That's survival.

We've done it before. We can do it again.

    • The best thing about the show Futurama is that the Earth has only one nation. Let us not kill each other over the Earths resources let us save all that energy to kill the aliens for theirs.

    • Great idea. Years maybe even hundreds of years before this ever occurs. At this point it is a fantasy in my opinion.

    • Conscious Evolution will have to occur 1st before the transformation of our world society...When i 1st heard of the Venus project about 2 years ago i showed my whole family in excitement at the beuatiful idea of a resourced based economy..I quickly realized that People with money are happy having it and don't Want another way...People (the bankers in control) would rather egotiscally cherish and compete over their allmighty dolla then to have a world of sustainable freedom...

      2012...plz hurry LOL

It is happening now...2012 is when the fruit becomes ripe:-)There is much information still missing from the global consciousness...We cannot evolve in darkness, only out of it.People must stop exclusively believing in this severely limited human designed world of numbers, letters, digits, dollars and symbols before we are to be free...our Reality is existing on multiple levels all at once yet most only percieve this one...The realization of our multidimensional selves will surely bring about much needed change..but until then we must endure the cycle.

    • That video reminded me of Aldous Huxley's "A Brave New World". I'mnot sure if i'mfor a all social and connected future any time soon. We need to do this in steps and start with education and population control.

    • Really lame name. Sounds like a it is a revolution for women. Why would they alienate almost half of the people on earth by naming it after a woman's razor? That must be the marketing that I fall for everytime.

Actually your perspective simply comes from a lack of knowledge...why would you only post up on it's name as if someones trying to sell you something..come on seriously?

    • it is not out of reach, or near impossible to transition towards. the transition just needs to begin and we could realize this type of living standard before it is too late and we have diminished all precious resources needed. Once the populous of this world decides it does not want to be governed, and is willing to work together for the common good of the planet, not just humans, but for everything living and non-living on this planet, then the progress will begin. Now i realize i stated a lot of factors that need to happen before we begin the transition, but all it takes is a spark; a moment where people are stopped in their tracks and shaken out of their fixed realities to reconsider the path that we have been led down. I believe that moment is coming.

She called me a nut case!

    • I support it too but seems unattainable any time soon. I think we need to transition into an education-based society (instead of our current money-greed-power society) before this is to happen. It's a huge leap and needs transition through education. Getting people to think outside the TV is challenging enough. Shit, 80% of Americans probably don't even know what the Federal Reserve (central cartel bank) does...
