Panasonic demonstrate its 50" 3D TV

Panasonic have unveiled its 50 inch 3D television at the electronic company's headquarters in Japan Monday, complete with glasses to view them. Panasonic didn't specify date or price, but hopes to hit stores sometime in 2010.

The 3D TV will be at showcase at CEATEC on the 6th-10th October.

    • The trend in 3D TVs all require glasses in order to view the picture in it's magical eye-popping dimensions. How comfortable is it for someone who wears glasses already to try to fit these on top of their normal specs? Will there be special ones or prescription 3D glasses?

      It still looks cool and I can imagine we'd expect to see this set in UK stores at least a year after sale in Japan though..

      I don't think so.

      See, according to the article, in every frame you see on the tv there are two images that flash within rapid section of each other. One is a little to the left and the other is a little to the right. Thus this creates a flip book like effect with the added effect of also making the image 3D.

      Imax still does that old trick of showing both the left and right image at the same time so it looks kind of weird at first. But then you put on the glasses and it helps you fuse them together in your head as one image.
