Court order served over Twitter

It appears to be legal to serve orders over Twitter now.

An unknown Twitter user was anonymously posting to the site using the same name as a right-wing political blogger - Donal Blaney

The order says the Twitter user is breaching the copyright of Mr Blaney.

Rather than go through the potentially lengthy process of contacting Twitter headquarters in California, Blaney decided to serve the order through Twitter. UK law states that an injunction does not have to be served in person and can be delivered by several different means including fax or e-mail.

A recent case in Australia showed that you could deliver a court order through Facebook and this led Blaney (who is also a lawyer) to try this in the UK.

Wonder if that means you'd get cheaper legal fees if your solicitors did all their work for you through Twitter?
