This one addresses the primary problem with the most mainstream midi-controller used since MIDI's inception: the keyboard's lack of response to individual modulation of each key/trigger. For the most part on a keyboard you trigger your note and then use a second modulating wheel/knob/pad to make adjustments in expression. From the looks of it this thing bypasses that need for two hands to control just one event by putting x and y modulation into each key along with the overall breath activation and side strips.
It obviously would be up to how it feels in your hand as far as whether its a good controller or not and I'm slightly confused as to why they chose rows of 5 for a 12 step music scale but at this point I haven't seen a more versatile piece of machinery.
Edit: circle of 5ths, so each row down is a theoretically sound transition.

I'm pretty sure this is more than a midi controller... Looks like it works the same way as the new Moog Guitar... ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b3SsYQrgcyA )

With pitch sensitive fingering, like a cello.
With five "strings" like a bass.
And on-the-fly linear tone modulation.
Its not "just" a midi controller.

It had to happen! Combining keyboard, wind controller, string and drum pad synths. As if playing any one of those instruments isn't challenging enough!

The small version of it is 300, not too bad.

By Zeus's beard that's one hell of a synth!!! Not sure on international orders but looks like they're going for around $6.4k whenever they release them.
I don't think I can look my roland in its teeth anymore after lusting after that thing. - 3 years ago

They've got a mini version that's going to sell for around $600 US. I think I might get one of those, and if I'm really impressed by it I might go for the Alpha later.

The song is "Extreme Ways" by Moby. Most people know it from the Bourne Ultimatum.
