On Friday, October 23rd Taser International held a demo day at the Alameda Sheriff's Office Regional Training Center in Dublin, California, to show off some of the latest in electronic control devices. Ranging from the Taser X3 and Taser Shockwave, which allow you to target 3 and 26 people respectively. To the XREP (Extended Range Electronic Projectile) that is "deployed" from a 12-gauge pump-action shotgun, firing up to 100 feet and attaches itself to the target before it zapping with "Neuromuscular Incapacitation" technology.

    • Considering the documented abuse of the old-style tazer weapons by peace officers, I think there should be an accounting of every one of these things. Similar to what's required for firearms the users should have to document and report each use.

Not that this will fix the problem whatsoever, but at least we'll have more data to back up our arguments against it.

      Because

      1) we love to shoot things
      2) we can't help but fear for our lives
      3) who in their right corporate mind would seriously spend money on, oh I dunno, starving kids in Africa... why save 1 billion starving kids when you can tazer 30 protestors vouching for the 1 billion starving and keep the whole issue quiet?
