Got an iPhone? There's 100,000 apps for that

On the launch day of Symbian* Foundation's Horizon app store Apple have announced that the iPhone now has 100,000 apps in its store. Yes, one hundred thousand!

No matter how crap the vast majority of them are, that's still one hell of a number and they're all located in the one place. In amongst the dross, there has to be dozens, if not hundreds of really good apps - this is something that cannot be said about Symbian devices no matter how more advanced and plentiful the phones may be.

*For those that don't know, phones such as Nokia's N97 and Sony Ericsson's Satio run an OS called Symbian (well, a flavour of) and apps are a lot less plentiful and there's plenty of incompatibilites between them.

    • Thats why the iPhone is stil winning. On paper it may not have the specs of a lot of the other top end smartphones but the package as a whole is still hard to beat.

I agree though, a vast majority of apps coming out now seem to be just "get rich quick" schemes
