Microsoft Courier makes Apple Tablet look silly

Image

The UI of Microsoft’s Courier was leaked today and frankly it looks nothing short of amazing. It also has upped the ante for the unseen and rumored Apple Tablet.

    • Oooh, a 3-D computer generated image... Im not impressed, im actually more impressed by the RUMOR of an apple tablet, since i use my Wacom all the time, i think apple will win this one if they do get into production, but for now, this isn't going to impress me.

    • Vaporware.

Microsoft does this every time a competitor either announces a new product or is rumored to be ready to release one. It is intended to make fans back off from buying the competitor's product and wait for the "cool" new Micro$oft product.

It's getting to be a tired, well-known tactic.

As another poster said, since Apple hasn't even announced a tablet, we don't know what it'll look like - or even IF they'll even release one at all!

And a stylus? ...a Stylus? ...STYLUS??? Who the hell are these guys and what century have they been living in? I thought windows 7 is touch capable? Or maybe it's not running win7?

not...running...Windows...7? Not running their latest and greatest?

Mmmuuahahahahahaha! Hohohohohohoho! Ohh, geez, my eyes, tears, ...catch my breath...

      Ok, I'm better now.

Wow, just wow. (So THAT'S what that means!)

    • The stylus isn't a drawback, it's just for accuracy, like when you draw stuff. It's a damn good idea in that respect! For the rest it has the usual touchscreen and fingure guestures. What concerns me is the power of the thing. Normally these lovely promising small computers and touchscreen tablet things are babystuff in terms of power- for your kids, vapid teens and old people,, not people who actually like to get serious work oout of their device.

    • Interesting. Probably needs to popup a keyboard (can split it across both screens for a nice touch-key experience I would think) so the stylus doesn't become a "downer". But I really like the stylus thing too.

Don't know if I "need" it from what I've seen. Advantage over my laptop is its smaller. But then now I have yet another device with other types of collected data for organizing stuff... when I am already doing it all in a central place from my laptop onto my servers. At that point, my PDA (yes, I am old school) is doing a better job because, at its smaller size and convenience and file/addressbook/calendar/journal handling it is managing all the same medium I am already using via my laptop, ...
...simple sync and either one is serving me in any situation.

First take... Mixed feelings about it. It "seems" cool, but anything that only introduces more stuff I have to use for managing my data only bogs me down more... doesn't liberate me.

Then again... you knwo PC link-in will come later with new apps they will be pushing (like to compete with, say, Wave perhaps?)... so first premature look may mean nothing.

    • Macintosh will blow it out of the water! The courier's greatest design flaw is it's stylus. What is it with out it?

    • One thing it has in common with the Apple tablet is that neither actually exist at this point in time, which makes me wonder how it could make it look silly.

Granted the the concept is VERY cool, but I can't imagine that MS will not screw it up some how or just never release it.

    • That's a bold statement considering no one has seen what the Apple tablet even looks like or how it performs. That's like saying, "oh look, my girlfriend is so much better than yours because we haven't seen her yet!" Dumb.

    • I am a gadget fiend, and this looks GREAT... but I will curb any enthusiasm until I see something more then a fancy picture.

    • I hope so, across the board the new stuff Microsoft has been working on have been really good.

I've been having worries that Apple will have a dominance over all forms of electronic media.
