Hey, we used to pay a few pennys extra for the bottle of pop then got our pennies back when we returned the bottles.
Mom kept the cardboard six pack container near the coat hooks, on the floor, when you finished the pop you rinsed out the bottle and stuck in the container and on your way out the door to the store you picked it up returned it to the front of the store and got your refund.
Incentive. Just like Aldi's grocery carts: you get your quarter back when you return it to it's proper place!
If everyone would be accountable for their share we could save the world ,without spending millions of dollars on the mess(es) we wouldn't make!

This is A damn good idea with far reaching applications and possibilities. Shop at Costco and you won't have to concern yourself about Coke!!!! Pepsi is better in my opinion but they both are bad for your health, but how many products these days are really good for your health anyhow...
And as an after thought, why are they singling out *Coke?? Aren't most all cans without paper labels painted in one way or another????

What about the jobs that are produced by painting coke cans?
Is this move not a nightmare for some large paint producing company?
How many people would be put out work to switch to this design? And, does the environmental impact outweigh the need for those jobs?

Coke is crap regardless of the can. Why people get so excited about a soda can without caring what is inside and how it got there is beyond my comprehension.

The red Coke can is certainly part of their brand, but I think that Coke would have no problem overcoming this small change. I don't care if the Coke can is red or metallic colored. Heck, if they jump on it before any other brand, they can easily rebrand their color(s) as metallic, natural, and environmentally friendly.

The only hindrance might be on how to differentiate cans for regular, diet, and caffeine free Cokes.

The embossing to be done before the metal is rolled.

While beautiful, the design doesn't take into account a lot of the regulations about including ingredients on the product as well as a bar code for scanning it for purchase and stock maintenance.

In the end, they'd have to produce a sticker with that info which would defeat the purpose to begin with.

I buy bottles almost always. This should be an interesting item for beer makers too.

This is a great idea. Even if coke would switch this to thier "diet coke" or even "coke zero" look, it would significantly reduce energy use. And I'm sure it would save coca-cola from spending excess money on paint. It would sit well with "green" people and maybe bring more jazz about thier products. I hope they see this idea and seriously do this.

although i hate most of the things that represent coka cola... i gotta give them a job well done for that...most def get the nod from the pot smokers association of high-land...keep it easy and jolly good bud PEACE

i dont think the embossing is possible on a pressurized aluminum cylinder, but that doesnt eliminate the point. maybe, less paint? i dont know. how about drink water?

The only thing "green" about this is the the money they will make from idiots that think this will "Save the Earth". I have traveled all over this planet, a very beautiful World in which we all live in. America has to be the best place of all, or at least as nice as any other place on this Planet. I like Diet Coke.

Mmmm, how conventionally modern this new look will be if utilized. "Why not?" I say, we've got nothing to lose!

Good idea, more companies should be trying to produce environmentally friendlier products.

Though this took far too long to happen, it's hard to be upset about this design plan coming into production. Hopefully many other companies will follow suit (perhaps other coca cola brand too, please?) in due time.

All of these wonderful ideas to conserve energy and our environment, yet companies rarely implement them. Being eco-friendly is good for business becasue everybody loves an eco-friendly company. I'm very hopeful Coke will see this as a win-win.

I don't drink pop, but it would be nice for a company as large as Coca Cola to use this design. It might send a signal to other corporations and promote responsibility.

Why are we so wrapped up in the aesthetics of a f*cking coke can? It shouldn't have any paint for the mere fact of less toxic paint and reducing energy. I hate how visually inclined we are. All we care about is how it looks in our hand when someone sees us from across the street. They should have done this a long time ago, and once we found the risks with aluminum, not used it because of the health issues involved.

I love this idea, the look is slick and I am sure that if more people were prompted to see this they would love it too :) I wonder if the Coca-Cola Company knows about this?
