Organic Pure Cane Sugar, demand it. It is the best. All beets in this country have been cross pollinated and polluted by GM beets.

So true. Once this is put out into the environment there is no calling the detrimental effects back once they spread. It goes way beyond just profit. It goes to total control and it is insidious.

This is a story that should be covered by Vanguard. After watching their Oxycontin Express episode, I think that the same kind of coverage could be applied there to wake people up.
With GMOs, the seed becomes the bomb and there is no way to know what damage we are doing until years to come. The article does mention that GMO alfalfa (Roundup Ready) has been banned in one federal court in another case. From that, there is hope.
I also find it interesting that Monsanto is happy to get a patent on food, but doesn't want labels on the food indicating that patented food is in the package. Where is the pride?

Excerpt
The most heavily-traded futures contract in New York today was not oil. It wasn't gold. You'll probably never guess, so I'll just go ahead and give you the answer: Sugar was the hot commodity today as traders backed it down off 28-year highs. Rumors of a big purchase by the Indian government helped drive that. Here in this country more than half our sugar comes from beets. From a beet crop that is almost entirely genetically modified. Organic farmers and food-safety advocates are suing to keep that crop out of the ground this coming spring. From the Marketplace Entrepreneurship Desk at Oregon Public Broadcasting, Mitchell Hartman reports:

Amazing as well to see this covered on public radio since Monsanto has bought them too. And the nerve of this report to even suggest it be the organic farmers who must now cover their crops so that Monsanto's sh*t won't contaminate it. But hey, nothing to see here, right? Just remember that the next time you pick up a chocolate bar and don't know what's in it.
