Music plays a major role in the Streaming Museum, a new hybrid museum for the 21st Century that presents multi-media exhibitions in cyberspace, public space and live in museums.

In the Museum’s current exhibition, “New Era: The Middle East” leading international musicians and visual artists are juxtaposed in a powerful experience of art and entertainment.

A highlight of the exhibition is three music and video works by Will Calhoun from his CD/DVD Native Lands that were influenced by his research and exploration of Egyptian culture. Calhoun is a two-time Grammy Winner, composer, percussionist, photographer, and drummer for rock icon band Living Colour.

Native Lands is a compilation of music videos and documentary materials that chronicle the last ten years of Calhoun’s life and international travels. Described as Jazz meets World meets trance-inducing Urban music, it encompasses his far reaching interests in a genre-bending collection that taps key expressionists from various backgrounds. Among those contributing are Pharoah Sanders, Mos Def, Buster Williams, Stanley Jordan, Kevin Eubanks, Marcus Miller and Wallace Roney, as well as Nana Vasconcelos from Brazil and Cheick Tidiane Seck from Mali.

Will Calhoun is presently touring with Living Colour on their new 2009 critically acclaimed CD-“Chair in the Doorway” (Mega Force Records).
