Vinyl Records and the Orwellian Nightmare

Have we discovered that technology has gone down the wrong road? Computer manufacturers are battling the poor performance that make computer users so frustrated, always locking up and crashing. Digital content is way volatile. It can be copied or corrupted, even erased. Kindle books just crashed eveyone's copy of Animal Farm because of some legal battle. DRM drives people nuts when they can't recover their music after a computer crash. Banks have total access to everyone's money and statements with direct deposit and online banking. It's becoming an Orwellian nightmare.

Vinyl? The people that love it most are kids that never grew up with it. The only good things about the format is the size of the covers and the fact that turntables last much longer than CD players (even high end ones) computers and MP3 players.Apart from that records are so prone to damage of any sort it's not funny, and dust attracts to them like iron filings to a magnet. The sound is only as good as the condition of the record and the quality of your entire system- It's much easier to maintain CDs and a CD player.

Sounds more like a bunch of old farts that don't know enough about computers to get there digital equipment to perform. Ever hear of live music? I always prefer LIVE music to recorded anyhow. Vinyl has never sounded better than when it is coupled with the top of line digital technology out today. If you have ever recorded digital sounds on vinyl, you know what I mean.

Not all music addicts are audiophiles.

I wouldn't call vinyl a trend, but for us music addicts, it's a necessity. They just sound better than anything else. Plus you can't take it everywhere. It's a ritual, not background noise.
