Healthcare got you down? You've got online options.

sarahlane
Health care options are all over the place, depending on where you work, what your company's plan is, how much you spend, etc. But it was only a matter of time before someone came up with another solution for folks who want to harness the power of the web for more flexibility. Hello Health may still be a small service, but it's an interesting look into the possible future of health care.

    • I used Mantra Health and it has been great. Affordable and flexible for a younger, accident-prone student (which I happen to be)

    • Deny healthcare insurance to whomever seeks to make some profit from the ill and infirm or denies that they have any rights to help in a socially conscious society.
No if, no but, and no whatever.
Smack the bastards and teach them a lesson.

    • I REALLY don't think the average doctor could handle all their patients IMing them all the damn time. Plus, you don't talk about how much this service would cost, what the visits cost, monthly fee is, what health insurance companies would actually cover it (and how much would they).

Nice idea...but like another poster said, out of pocket cost in America for health care are on average FAR too high to be able to do a service like this.

Something like this is great if you need to refill a prescription or you want to make an appointment. Anything else...hm.

    • It does sound like a good idea, but I'd really only like it to be extremely supplimental. Doing all the stuff that can easily be done online (appointments, billing) is very appealing, but I'd get worried if it started to take the place of seeing an actual Doctor. They spot the little signs that could be very important to someones health.
Also, if the Doctor got enough people they'd start to need a secretary to manage all the IMs, with a large amount of 'My head hurts' or 'I can't sleep' showing up every few minutes.

Whoa dude. I do some of my banking online, and I have a small local credit union. It's not like online banking has to be through a corporate bank that got bailed out for its shady fiscal practices.

Banks do everything to make it super easy for you to spend your money, pour it into their banks, run up overdrafts, and give them complete control of your finances.

They do everything to make it hard for you to avoid their fees and have complete control of you money. When you deposit money in YOUR bank account, how much do they ALLOW you to take out in a day? Whose money is it?

When you sign for direct deposit they require you to consent to a loss of privacy where they can give all your personal banking account info and employer info to any "agency" that requests it.

When they make it easy for you to bank online, they make it easy for you to make all your money transactions transparent to them. They know what you spend, when you spend it, and what you spend it on. You trust these biggest all time crooks in American history with this information? They have raped our economy and continue to take our money to feed their corporate greed while our country languishes in foreclosure and record unemployment and medical debt that forces people into bankruptcy and homelessness just to stay alive.

And you have an ounce of time for these people? You have a dime to give to them in interest with YOUR money sitting in THEIR banks?

And then you talk about standing up for your country and having a revolution?

I have a news flash for you. If there is ever going to be even a hint of a revolution in this country, the first thing that has to happen is for people to drop their banks.
