Google: now serving cowardliness

Displaying sensitivity to religions in the current climate is no bad thing. But do it for just one religion, and an unhappy internet calls you out on it.

Click the link to see the search results for main religions including Christianity, Judaism and Islam.

    • what does this have to do with cowardice? I think all religions are lame and create war and conflict.. if anything being religious is cowardly...you don't have enough faith in yourself so you need religion to keep you in line? LAME

and doesn't Google just provide suggestions based on what has been most popularly searched?

    • These types of "reports" or posts are innane pieces of drivel. Aside form the fact that google is solely an aggregator of information and common searches, Islam is NOT a religion! There's the nation of Islam and the Islamic faith, but the statement cannot be made " I'm not a Christian or a Buddhist, I'm an Islamist." To place this into the same semantic category as other religions creates a grammatical error that google will not recognize....and google recognizes some seriously stupid stuff. If you type in variations of the simple request that "genius" here did you'll find just as many options available to discus the Islamic faith.

      Think people!

    • "displaying sensitivity to religions in the current climate is no bad thing"....so if the climate was different, it would be bad?
      everyone:
      STOP USING THE WORD "CLIMATE"!
ITS A DEAD WORD WITH NO MEANING NOW.
      IT'S BEEN MURDERED!
      STOP USING THE WORD "CLIMATE"

    • Easy way to figure out if it is what the post is suggesting. Instead of just assuming that there are hundreds of thousands of people out there who already have try searching for "islam is evil", do it yourself. Everyone reading this thread with even a small curiosity in this subject should do this. Search a few times each person for "islam is evil" and if the search engine still offers nothing then we've got an answer.

Things not blocked with google are evil muslims, violent muslims, and something that shows they're definitely not completely spineless:
      Muhammad is
      - a false prophet
      - satan
      - the antichrist
      - dead
      - in hell
      - not a prophet

    • Negative Ghostrider. There is no conspiracy here ...

What you are just seeing the most popular searches on Google. Same thing happens on any search engine (Yahoo!, Bing, etc.)

So those opinions are not what Google thinks, rather those opinions are what the world thinks of Christianity, Islam and Judaism.

    • Uh, aren't those results based on common and recent searches? Google has nothing to do with it. Would it be better if they filtered the results?

    • try using just the word Christianity, Judaism, or Buddhism, or Hinduism. ...this is stupid, and i'm guessing someone has searched these things up in order to self promote.

    • Good on 'em! Now they should stop doing the search suggestions for the other ones as well. What sorts of moron sit around all day making sure google search suggestions say something juvenile about some religion or other? It's the internet equivalent of tagging or the cretins who put "1111111111!" in a comment post on youtube.

I can understand doing this actually. It would be a good first challenge for a programmer to skew google's results. I think what this really proves is that programmers are petty and infantile, but we already knew that, right? (by the way, I'm thinking about getting my masters in programming)

    • Wow, never thought Google would stop for anyone. Its pretty bad when your religion is so "sensitive" that Google has to play it safe.
