Sad state of affairs.
Uh, I blame both the corporation that makes the gun AND the person that shoots it. Both, are responsible. Guns are meant to kill, to hurt, destroy. Death, comes from them. And for some odd reason, the NRA feels that people are responsible enough to own one? hahaha! Any moron that needs a gun to feel better or salve an issue, is well. a moron. - 2 years ago

To indecisiveh - The whole gun control issue is a distraction for the masses. Something to divide us. What do the corporations and your government fear? A organized populace bent on restoring democracy and taking their power away. I belong to the NRA but I am also a progressive conservative. Not a republican or democrat. Not a left wing liberal compromiser or a right wing-nut reactionary. Take it for what it is worth. We have more in common than that which we chose to adopt as differences.

To Argon18 - How are you defining "progress?" I did some substitute teaching last year and those kids are not demonstrating any kind of progress from what I remember of my school years. No curiosity, no respect, very little self discipline, not much personality and a whole lot of self focus and entitlement. This was in an predominately affluent area. I for one think maybe a little more work and a little less "information" about reality TV, glorification of anti-culture and sluts on MTV might be progress. The children in China go to school 12 hours a day, 6 days a week. How you gonna compete with that? We are living in the wasteland of the free. We will have to pay that bill one day soon.

You are absolutely right. Instead of PROgressing, we are REgressing. We have more than ever before, people are better off than they have ever been, but are more dissatisfied with their lives than ever before. The way we treat each other has deteriorated to the point that the whole country has no respect or regard for our fellow man. Life is indeed cheap, and people will kill one another without batting an eye. Nope, no progression here. And it keeps getting worse. I dread thinking about where and how the human race will be in 30 years.

Darwin was on to something. Run for your life, be prepared (the Boy Scouts were right) and do away with morons, God can sort it out. I have now accepted that God must be in tears most of the time or he has just left this place. What makes most of these troglodytes masquerading as humans think they should reproduce. Ever notice how the human race is not getting any prettier? We ain't (are not) getting collectively smarter either. De-evolution?

That is only because you're only focusing on the bottom end of the curve.
Evolution applies everywhere. There is progress but just as there are more people in grade school than in college because it takes longer and more effort to get to college.
There are more people at the bottom end of the curve because everyone is born at square one and it takes more time to progress to the top so there are less of them there.
The human race has made steady progress from foraging, to farming, to industrial to informational, just because it is a spectrum with some at all different stages doesn't mean that the there hasn't been progress.

A sad facet of society indeed. It was only a matter of time unfortunately. As long as we've had communication we've had arguments. Before of course we'd go straight to violence. Now there's a small buffer and then we kill each other. Unfortunately with all the "1337 speak" hate can be transmitted in half the letters, giving us less time to actually consider the fruitlessness of such pissing contests.

Internet communications had blurred the reality zone. Encouraging bravery and insulting behavior that is restricted in most social settings. Privacy by internet has encouraged cowards to insult the wrong people, to their regret! Even on this site I have witnessed this behavior. I have told my friends and children this fact for many years; " You can kick a lot of dogs without getting bitten, however, one day you will kick the wrong dog"! Respect is due to everyone, face to face, or on the internet!

I don't think it's necesarrily the game that one should hate. the fact is the guy had a choice to ignorantly follow the hatred of a simple tweet, or to go about with his life more responsibly. you can argue that it is the enviroment that prevents him from making a better choice but it just doesnt justify cause. he fell victim to ignorance and lack of critical thinking... i don't think anyone should be this influenced by a maximum of 140 characters of mis-spellings and taunts...

In this case what is getting played is the blame like Twitter, insults in rap songs, fast food or the "inner city" and the mind game is taking all the drama of it way too seriously.
Since as you said that "doesnt justify cause. he fell victim to ignorance and lack of critical thinking"

They're not. They enjoy the perceived security in blaming external forces for human action. They are unaccepting of individuals as moral agents.
These days, when things like these happened, the perpetrator of a crime is fashioned as a victim, a victim of society, the gun manufacturers, of Twitter.
Criminals are victims. Repeat it. Get used to it. This is the newspeak, the new, progressive, way of looking at personal accountability.

the NRA and the gun lobby bear some measure of responsibility. Their money and influence make it certain there is access to plenty of guns, cheap and easy to find if you bother to look.

Sure, blame the NRA and the gun lobby for a murder. They are the ones who tell people to use their guns to kill innocent people.
Blame condom manufacturers for promiscuity. They make the condoms that hijack a man's dick and drive it into a vagina against the dick (or vagina) owner's will.
Blame fast food restaurants for obesity. They are the ones who deliver burgers to the homes of obese people, force feeding them the double cheeseburgers against the fat person's will.
Stupid as usual.

That's funny you all complain as you do a 6 person NRA pile-up on this one person for their opinion. This is classic NRA talk like you are in some kind of minority although you have large numbers of gun owners and billions of dollars lobbying the government. The government as a whole obviously supports and holds membership in the NRA so cry my a river. The gun control lobby wishes it had the numbers you guys do.
On the flip side people in inner cities are trying to do something about the gun violence, yet, they can't move an inch because there is always some group of NRA supporters from out of town trying to stop anything that would regulate this flow of guns.
This reminds me of those guys that show up to the rallies with their guns and to prove some point that they are having their rights taken away. From the looks of it you have a gun strapped to your back so what exactly the fuck are you talking about?

all I claimed was that the NRA and the gun lobby bear some measure of responsibility. SOME, not all.
The gun freaks always attack and malign those who advocate for a sensible gun policy. They always try to turn it into an either/or, all or nothing situation.
In time the gun lobby and the NRA will be regarded with the same contempt as the tobacco companies.

It seems I am being accused of being part of "a 6 person NRA pile-up".
Well I don't own any guns, and I've never been a member of the NRA. I'm just a guy who believes that if a person murder's another, the person who did it is fully to blame.
It's funny how some people react to the idea that people are ultimately responsible for their own actions.
Jeez, if the weapon used to commit murder was a baseball bat and I maintained that the bat swinger was to blame and not the people who made the bat I'd probably be accused of siding with Major League Baseball or the Louisville Slugger company.
Do you people hold that your own actions are always due in part to some other entity?

Yep, leave it to you to blame anyone except the guys who were involved. You bleeding hearts really need to try to use your brains once in awhile. Don't you see that if someone is determined to kill someone they will use any means they have available? If it wasn't a gun it would have been another weapon. And if they pass a million laws against guns do you think that will stop someone who is determined from gaining access to a gun? Last time I looked there were laws against MURDER, but those laws didn't help a thing, did they? Passing more gun laws would mean exactly the same to a criminal......... NOTHING. You really should look at reality now and then.

its not racist, just an observation. inner city is not a race, and yes, we tend to group things together that identify closely with each other, and yes sometimes a part of that happens to be race. stop hiding behind proposed racism and see things for what they really are. it was the truth, or trut. also the name randomly doesnt help your cause, its easy to use anonymity to spout accusations.

Yeah, it's difficult when people edit their posts. For that reason, when I respond to people on here, I usually quote them just so it's clear what I'm responding to.
Current could do what many other forums do and just leave some indication that a post has been edited.
