On Tumblr, I think 'ask' is a useful addition to somebody's profile in general but I wish people would ease off it a bit. I like the immediacy of being able to ask somebody a question about something they posted (without having to reblog it) but, like you say, it's become a bit of a vanity project and at times my Tumblr feed resembles the world's dullest question and answer session. I've started unfollowing navel-gazers on Tumblr and 'ask' has just helped identify them faster.

It's very much a broadcast platform, only Internet celebrities like yourself would get any real questions. No one cares what time I go to bed! It is a nice way to give something back to your fans, especially now that Twitter has become hugely congested.
