Today most hacked PCs run Microsoft's Windows operating system, and the company has invested millions in trying to fight the problem.
Microsoft recently used the U.S. court system to shut down the Waledac botnet, introducing a new tactic in the battle against hackers. Speaking at the RSA security conference in San Francisco, Microsoft Corporate Vice President for Trustworthy Computing Scott Charney said that the technology industry needs to think about more "social solutions."
That means fighting the bad guys at several levels, he said. "Just like we do defense in depth in IT, we have to do defense in depth in [hacking] response."

And Mac users should pay this tax because...? I guess they should pay it to keep Microsoft the primary target for hackers.
Maybe if products like Symantec and Mcafee would behave more like security software rather than the viruses they are suppose to remove, this wouldn't be such an issue.

How about Bill Gates re-invests some of his take home pay or stock options into the crap product that he helped develop. This is a damn joke and is the type of thing that Americans need to start paying attention to, because it already occurs for many other industries, some of which are transnational to the point of barely being considered American companies. Companies that take profits and try to externalize losses...why don't the "teabaggers" or republicans call that socialism?

How about Microsoft, Symantec, McAffee, Lavasoft, and all the other software manufacturers and do what the fuck it is that we pay you to do. You have grossly failed your jobs, and having my government take my money to give it to you is ridiculous. I already have a PC and a Xbox, you have plenty of my money already you greedy bastards, and I have to buy anti-virus. So, lets view it like a real job. You have a job to do. It's not getting done. Fire the lazy sons of bitches and get some people who can handle the responsibility.

Tax me and I will quit useing it this is nothing more than a toy for me. I bought this instead of buying another brush truck for the back yard. I thought it would save me money with the price of gas and all. besides i can't hardly work on crap anymore. So when I tear it up I can't fix it quite as fast as before my back crapped out. This here Computer critter is a lot of fun and I learn something every day with it but if they are going to start taxing me for useing it then I will go back to the outdoor toys.
