I think it's time for a new new Eve. I nominate myself... Who wants to lay me?

DNA in all of us prove that we are all descended from one woman who survived to have progeny which survived - she was dubbed "Eve" by the scientits, the "Eve" of the Bible never existed.

zichi:
Mitochondrial Eve is defined as the woman who is the matrilineal most recent common ancestor for all living humans. Passed down from mother to offspring, all mitochondrial DNA (mtDNA) in every living person is directly descended from hers. Mitochondrial Eve is the female counterpart of Y-chromosomal Adam, the patrilineal most recent common ancestor, although they lived thousands of years apart.
Mitochondrial Eve is generally estimated to have lived around 200,000 years ago,[2] most likely in East Africa,[3] when Homo sapiens sapiens were developing as a species separate from other human species.
Mitochondrial Eve lived much earlier than the out of Africa migration that is thought to have occurred between 95,000 to 45,000 BP.[4] The dating for 'Eve' was a blow to the multiregional hypothesis, and a boost to the hypothesis that modern humans originated relatively recently in Africa and spread from there, replacing more "archaic" human populations such as Neanderthals. As a result, the latter hypothesis is now the dominant one.

I beg to differ, we do not all come from one woman, that is blatently absurd. That assumes only one female emerged first in evolution. It would be far more plausable to think logically and assume many females who survived the last Super volcano when the number of humans plummeted down to as little as ten thousand persons left on the planet were the mothers of all humanity. Those who survived would have been part of the same tribe of people thus sharing DNA. If you go farther back it is safe to assume that more than one female emerged during the evolution of ape to man. So a one woman theory is rather difficult to believe.

It does absolutely NOT assume that only one female emerged first in evolution. It demonstrates that somewhere along the line, only the children of one woman survived to reproduce, at a time when there were few groups of humans on earth. Read my post above again - better still, click on the wikipedia link I posted and read the whole thing - I think you didn't understand any of it.

Tommic, there was a bottle neck in the human population due to climate change 200,000 years ago. One woman's progeny survived that became the progenitors of our current Mitochondrial DNA line.

Like I said, I doubt that it came down to just one woman, it was in all likelyhood a tribe of people who survived who were all part of the same dna. Thats all I propose. I really doubt that it all came down to one woman left for humankind to decend from. Highly unprobable

tommic, I understand what you are saying and I have said the exact same thing But I was assured by a philogeneticist that the MitoDNA demonstrates one physical woman, and not the tribe. But I personally don't know enough about the science to debate the issue.
I still find all of his highly interesting.

Because you're not his only brother, millions others of his brothers also want him to talk to them, but he has a huge job to do and cannot spare the time. :)

Whenever I like to humble people I have always told them, you were female before you were male, we were all black before we were white, we were apes before men, and we all started out as littles rodents 65 million years ago.
Then to lighten it up, we are all made from the elements of stars.
But before the big bang, no- one knows---
Theory maybe the universe expands until it can expand no more, then collapses upon itselt until the it explodes again only to expand and repeat the process infinititly. - 1 year ago

I agree, save for one detail - humans ARE apes - we belong to the Great Apes group. Chimpanzees are more closely related to humans than to gorillas, too.

Or maybe it never stops expanding, and the black holes suck up everything near them to make room for more expansion, while in this dimension, black holes are black holes, upon their creation they make new universes out of the stuff it sucks up in another dimension. And time is an illusion to keep everything from happening at once and destroying our feeble minds.

Yes, yes, yes... and we're STILL apes!
You're going to have stunned a whole lot of ignorant people with the female/male and the black/white statements, and I just LOVE it, because it's based on good science.

What he said. I thought they were talking about Lucy for a little bit, but I guess she was a little too old for all that.

I really enjoyed this video thank you so much. This should be required viewing for the religious people who think the world is scarcely 8000 years old.
