A car that will be fuelled by 10,000 cups of espresso is set to make the journey from London to Manchester.

BBC1's Bang Goes The Theory host, Jem Stansfield, is driving from London to Manchester to test an experimental car he built which runs on coffee grounds.

His journey is set to take him from BBC TV Centre in west London and, using the equivalent of 10,000 espressos-worth of grounds, takes him to Manchester for The Big Bang: UK Young Scientists' and Engineers' Fair.

He wants to show children and young people that we can use energy from waste products, saying 'It's important for kids to understand that power is not something that is mystically there, simply at the flick of a switch or by pushing a pedal. With the energy challenge that is facing the world, the more we encourage children to think about alternative fuels, where energy is stored and how it can be released, the better"

    • Great, I don't know how much 10,000 cups of espresso gets you. Although the point about - "It's important for kids to understand that power is not something that is mystically there, simply at the flick of a switch or by pushing a pedal." - is very important.

    • Good thing I don't drink coffee or espresso... now you have more to use!

Also, you can use the ones I don't drink and pick me up! I need a ride to the mall... i don't want to drive!
