Full-Body Scanners in O'Hare Airport

Image
peterjung03
The O’Hare Airport in Chicago will debut the first full-body scanner. With the release of these scanners will be disgruntled passengers having to get scanned and feel invaded of their rights and privacy, but some say they feel safer as they are flying from the largest airport in America, which is always a potential target for terror attacks. The full-body scanner can see everything but the people’s face and these machines will not be able to save images, but people still have their concerns. If a passenger denies the full-body scan they have another option to be patted down but more intensely than usual. As of now, O’Hare is the only place using the full-body scan but soon once this technology is declared useful and easier and acceptable by the majority of the public we will see them in most major international airports. • Recieved this via e-mail the other day and thought it was brilliant in its simplicity:

Here's a solution to all the controversy over full-body
      scanners at the airports.
Have a booth that you can step into that will not X-ray
you, but will detonate any explosive device you may have on you!
It would be a win-win for everyone - there would be none of
this crap about racial profiling and would eliminate a long and expensive
trial. Justice would be quick and swift. Case Closed!

This is so simple that it's brilliant. I can see it now:
You're in the airport terminal and you hear a muffled explosion.
Shortly thereafter an announcement comes over the PA system,
"Attention standby passengers we now have a seat available on flight
      number..."

Why waste time on that? Just call out the death squads and murder as many as you want. Cleaning up dead bodies with earth moving equipment is the most efficient way. Why don't you be the one at the front of the pack pulling the trigger!

      FUCKING IDIOT!

I feel sorry for poor the scanner-rube at "airport scanner-mart",....(at least in America),....lots n lots n lots n lots n (((LOTS))) of,.........uhm,.."chunky bodies"; that guy would just DREAM of more "pistol but" moments to liven up his dreary repetitive unattractive day. Just sayin.

    • if they're using scanners like this, I shouldn't get in trouble if I show up naked. afterall they're looking at me naked anyway. and again, what's wrong with medal detectors?

    • This is what i like to happen..the reality about total security. Even a simple gadget can be seen or a secret bottle inside the body...how about a little bottle of perfume or poison?

What you have to realize here is that we are supposed to live in a "Free" society where you have individual rights. The biggest problem is that how is that done and still have a secure enough environment for people to travel in. Forcing people to give up their individual rights and privacy
for the sake of security is like putting in a scan machine after the attack. When is anyone going to ask the glaring question? Why don't we change the environment that makes people want to commit these horrific acts? When you get to real reason why these attacks are taking place, you understand that intangibility, no matter how righteous, does not have a place in the here and now.
None of the people who have died in all of the attacks have gone to any heaven and no god has saved any of them. It's all in their minds.....The terrorists hate us because we are a nation of fat, arrogant, self absorbed, weak minded idiots who believe what comes over the fear and insecurity control box and are ruled by fear and insecurity in this post apocalyptic environment and have no respect for anyone else or their customs. We think democracy is the best way when in fact it is very flawed in application. No country wants a foreign way of life shoved down their throats. They also hate us because our government screwed them and backs Israel. When you look at all of the religious absolution in the world, you can't help but come to the conclusion that we're all DOOMED! There's no way all of those people are going to dump their belief structures and compromise. I just want as many endorphins and as much dopamine as I can get before I check out of this nightmare you idiots made reality.....

See you all in the end!!!!!!!!!

Sometimes we need to accept the truth that in this world we need to secure everything even our life wherever we go. Instead of rejecting the fact that we are only civilians, we also need to know that we do not know where the syndicates are that sabotage and uses innocent lives in killing and in manifesting one country or situation.

No, the terrorists hate us because we support Isreal. And also because we are not Muslim, and most Muslims feel that if we aren't Muslim, we must either convert to Muslim or be killed. And they want to dominate the world.

    • If you think this is against your rights, then go use another way to travel. The government should be able to do everything possible to protect us from another big terrorist attack, and if you think I'm ignorant, just wait until you get a terrorist on your flight and you will think again.

    • what's wrong with a good old fashioned metal detector? really?

this is just stupid, they're not trying to protect anyone, they're just trying to enforce more and more control over us.

    • Oh noooo !!!!

Well if I have to go though that scanner before I get on the plane, I will have to go to the bathroom to pre-fluff my penis.
I don't want my penis to be looking all small on that scanner.

Especially if it is a cold day outside, because we all know cold weather and prolonged exposure to water can wreak havoc on a man's member.

I would like it to at half glory or better ..... especially if there is a hot woman working the scanner on that given day.

Damn right, I will show them a dangerous weapon.

    • Its all part of a fear driven system. We collectively break away from the fear.. and we create a world independent from these games. We can play their game or we can play our own game...

    • someone tell the woman in the picture that naked photos of her are on the internet ...

and tell the same to anyone who plans to fly on a plane with one of these

((trained to destroy the pictures, policy to destroy the pictures, doesn't mean they ARE ALWAYS and WILL ALWAYS BE destroyed))

for me ... I think I'm gonna look into some alternative fuel cars for long distance commuting ...

    • Who cares! If it makes the line go faster and IF it actually detects dangerous items, I'm all for it. In my case, it will speed things up because my knee replacements cause me to go through the tedious pat down/wand check every time.

    • Creepy. Couldn't they just make a machine that blurs out the naughty bits and just shows the metal glowing a certain color? Probably, that just wouldn't be as much fun for the viewers.

A little while back I heard they were showcasing a detector that blew a puff of air into some kind of odor sensory chamber that detects drugs and explosives. I can't remember the source, but I think it was on the news or 60 minutes.

    • This is really kind of sad, considering the fact that the main threat to airliners isn't guns, or someone sneaking on the plane with a knife. This won't protect anyone from the real danger of a passenger bringing bomb components on a plane and assembling them after boarding. We still have no way to find those types of weapons other than trained dogs, and they can be tricked, or have their sense of smell overwhelmed or (unfortunately) destroyed with the right substances. This is a load of crap.

    • pretty sure that's not what they produce as an image...first, that's inverted, second it's most likely photo shopped because the inverted image would not be that clear.

still, i disagree with their use, but I don't agree with lying and fear tactics to protest their use.

its definitely true that the scans are not that detailed hahaha. im sure if they were they would be able to save images and we would have massive amounts of scandels and problems and lawsuits...its a shame that we have to do this just to feel safe, and yet people feel even more violated with this terror scanner hahaha....

That was my first thought also, but it would get tired fast because the images aren't really that clear, plus that woman pictured would probaly be the highlight passenger of most days. Now if the images were high def and the airport was in Sweden...
