If you picked your own email address, your choice of hotnerd1337@fuzzer.com telegraphs a lot about your personality. A recent study by German researchers showed that certain types of email addresses elicited similar assumptions from people. And they were often correct.
What's interesting is that this analytical tool is that it can't predict whether you're extraverted or not. Ah the internet: So good at turning introverts out, and making extraverts into "Friscosweety800." Say the researchers:
Using 599 e-mail addresses of young adults, their self-reported personality scores and the personality judgments of 100 independent observers, it was shown that personality impressions based solely on e-mail addresses were consensually shared by observers. Moreover, these impressions contained some degree of validity. This was true for neuroticism, openness, agreeableness, conscientiousness, and narcissism but not for extraversion.
