American art director Steven Heller rightly observed that fembots are “the most visible linkage of technology and sex”. If we have to trace back the origin of the trend, it can be befittingly laid on the way female cyborgs have been used as sexual interest in fictions. The cyborgs soon evolved into fiction Gynoids for similar portrayals. Feminist Patricia Melzer also points out how Richard Calder’s Dead Girls portrayed gynoids as sexual objects for “pleasing men’s violent sexual desires”. It’s just one of the plentiful examples that lead us to robot fetishism. Therefore, it wont be unfair to state that fembots majorly fill for that perfect woman figure as fancied or desired by men.
