People's Brains?

THE Right Brain vs Left Brain test ... do you see the dancer turning clockwise or anti-clockwise?

If clockwise, then you use more of the right side of the brain and vice versa.

Most of us would see the dancer turning anti-clockwise though you can try to focus and change the direction; see if you can do it.

LEFT BRAIN FUNCTIONS
uses logic
detail oriented
facts rule
words and language
present and past
math and science
can comprehend
knowing
acknowledges
order/pattern perception
knows object name
reality based
forms strategies
practical
safe

RIGHT BRAIN FUNCTIONS
uses feeling
"big picture" oriented
imagination rules
symbols and images
present and future
philosophy & religion
can "get it" (i.e. meaning)
believes
appreciates
spatial perception
knows object function
fantasy based
presents possibilities
impetuous
risk taking

This is actually kind of interesting. I tried for awhile and I was able to get the dancer to change directions. Initially she was turning clockwise for me. Give it a try.

    • So the twenty three dollar question might be: Some people see ghosts and others do not could it be as simple as right brain -- left brain activity that makes it possible for some to see ghosts where others can not? Just thinking out loud on the key board.

    • Tres cool! Mostly she turns counter-clockwise, but if if start looking at exactly when the break happens (leg fully on the left), there is enough of a click that I can see the clockwise motion.

However, if I look at the feet even slightly, the counter-clockwise motion prevails. Does my left brain have a foot fetish? Should my right brain get jealous?

I think you may be on to something. It sounds like your left brain has a foot fetish and your right brain has a leg fetish. The next question to be asked is if both eyes are closed and a female is walking near you, do you hear her footsteps or do you hear her knees knocking? However, in the same scenario, Onemalefla probably hears the boobies bouncing or knocking long before he hears the footsteps.

    • Now what if I said I see a few people floating in place some red & some a shadowy black??? This test is actually very psychological !!! Being an art person with absolutely no math skills at all! With what many would call an over active imagination & an extreme sense of detail, I have had many people study my mind & end up with far more questions then answers!!! Brain X-rays I had when I was younger for head aches revealed that I use more then the usual just over 10% of the brain that most people use when awake! (I also never had headaches really after the X-ray hmmm...) But even using more of my brain there are many things such as math, that I mentioned earlier, that I really can't do well at all!!! This test is great in that it proves people see things in very different ways & some accept what they see as being & others think maybe it's a set up!!! Most people will see faces in just about anything!!! Vision is not 100% perfect nor are any of our senses therefore, it is actually really easy to trick our senses into believing pretty much anything!!! In isolation tests due in the right conditions, you actually could make anyone in this chat think they were looking at a picture of a duck!!!

    • I saw clockwise first.

And then I had to stare at the bottom foot for a bit to get that to change direction... Once it was counter clockwise, I had a hard time getting it to go back to clockwise.

I think the trick to getting it to switch direction is looking at the bottom foot, and then the rest of the body. I've gotten it to switch a few times now.

      Fun stuff!

    • lol maybe I'm just a freak. When I look directly at the image I see it turning clockwise but when I started to read , through my peripheral vision I could clearly see it change direction. So I stared at it for a moment and was able to change it's direction at will... nice illusion.

It is a bit like that for me as well. This is the thing, not everyone is the same and you don't have to be just right brain or left brain. You can be anywhere in between. I think it can be affected by what and how focused you are on certain types of things. Different tasks require different parts of the brain and this more than likely stimulates the left vs the right side of the brain. So I guess part of the point is which are you more inclined to be, left or right.

If it helps you to understand yourself and others then it can be helpful to know why people are the way they are. Different people struggle with certain subjects when they are trying to learn. This may help to explain why one subject is easy for one and difficult for another when both people are intelligent.

    • It is an optical illusion , since it is silhouette , it has no depth to stabilize the story of the image moving through time . The brain has to make up a story . Open to interpretation .

    • As mentioned by another commentator, this picture is rigged. Try reloading the page and you'll realize that it changes direction at random. You were really seeing which way it was going. Those of you claiming to switch it at will are...supernatural, I guess.

Every time I load the page it starts out clockwise. Trust me, I wanted to debunk it as well. The true test is to do as CarlosIsDown did and have others look at it the same time that you do. If they see the opposite then you will know that it is not rigged. You may need to try a few people as it is based on left or right brained people. Not everyone you know is going to be different or the same. So give that a try and see what happens. The link below is where this spinning lady was found.

I checked that out , by having someone else watch it next to me . It is not rigged . It is an optical illusion the brain interprets as it see fit . Different brain , different interpretation .

    • It was going counter-clockwise, and then it was clockwise. I called people in and they all said it was going clockwise but my sister said that it went counter-clockwise if I scrolled down.

    • I am unable to make this change directions. It is, after staring and investigating it for a few minutes, definitely going COUNTERCLOCKWISE! Anyone that disagrees with me surely must be crazy.

you CAN change it.. seemingly with your mind. focus on her torso and not so much on with which leg or shoulder she is turning first. its quite easy. but i understand where u r coming from. i too at first thought there was no possible way for it to be turning any other direction than what i saw. perception is still a very interesting thing for our minds to grasp. OH and i saw her turn clockwise

Actually that doesn't mean that it is not legit. You are possibly balanced with right and left brain activity. Not all people are the same. I am finding that my mood based on what I am doing is somewhat able to impact my ability to change its direction. Come back later and try it again from time to time and see what happens for you.

    • Ahhh! Can't make it go counter! Is it really rigged like some people are saying?

Besides that, I kinda knew I was right brained anyways but still, cool if it's legit.

Not rigged, I promise. If you try it at different times of the day when you are doing different types of activities you may see it change. I am having trouble changing it now but I didn't get much sleep last night so my brain is a bit clouded. I have got it to change twice today but only for a second. Last night I could get it too change as often as I wanted to with a bit of effort.

    • I can only see it rotating clockwise.
However, my personality falls into the Left brain function category.
Things I do right handed: throw, eat, write, shoot, snow board.
Things I do left handed: swing a bat, drive, text message.

EDIT: I scrolled up again and now it's going counter-clockwise and I cant get it to switch back.

EDIT: The picture is rigged to switch back and forth. Don't waste your time with this BS.

I think this phenomenon is a key as to why so many people can watch something and come away with a totally different perspective than the next person. I think this is part of the reason why there are so many different opinions on every subject. Again, this is only part of the reason.

    • Try looking someplace about 6 to 10 inches to the left of it and use your peripheral vision and it might change directions for you. When you see it change then look at it directly and see how long it stays turned. The more times you can get it to do it the longer you can get it to hold. At least for me it did. Good luck.

Thats about the way it works for me. Also if I have done a lot of reading up to the point I start to look, it tends to go one way,.....if I look at a lot of graphics,...another. Whatever,..it is kewl!
