This is a growing problem in this country, stupid people have been given a voice in this country thanks to the internet and the media they are becoming more bold. Here are the facts 11 people died, BP has lost approximately $100 billion in the value of it's shares. The CEO has had to focus on this disaster rather than on running company, BP now has to set aside $20 Billion for the victims of this disaster. The money that they get from selling the oil from this one well is a drop in the bucket compared to their yearly revenue of around $200 billion. If you think for one minute that BP wanted this to happen then I really question your ability to reason. Janforgore, this idea of yours is beyond stupid and usually I think you have some good things to say but this is just dumb. You are basically saying that BP wanted an event to occur that could potentially put them out of business if they don't fix this. I am in no way defending BP just by saying that they didn't want this to happen, they are guilty of trying to cut corners and they got burnt. Now they have to pay the cost to clean up their mess and compensate people who lost income. Let's not get all crazy here.

Don't tell me how to think or how to express my opinions here. There is nothing stupid about it, especially in regard to stock transactions that went through before this happened. And also, I stated in my original comment that based on what I am seeing regarding their actions or LACK thereof, I BELIEVE they not only wanted this to happen, but knew it eventually would. Perhaps you need to read up on all of the safety inspections not done, and the warnings they did not heed. I personally believe it is disengenuous to call someone stupid for having a legitimate opinion based on real events. Those who put aside all options in a discussion in my view lack not only an ability to reason, but to think beyond what they are being spoonfed.

Uhhhh, are you joking or just misinformed. The last thing BP would ever want was for this to happen. They might go BANKRUPT over this, it has already cost them over 1 billion dollars in cleanup costs. Ending drilling in the Gulf would be very bad. As of the Presidents moratorium 40,000-50,000 jobs will be lost and our dependecy on foreign oil will durastically increase.

Uhhhh, no, I'm neither joking , misinformed, or alone in my thoughts on this. A perpetual gush will assure them a perpetual income and their liability cap would make that a plus for them. But those who are apologizing for them of course for their own reasons will never see that this like all associated with greedy corporations is about money.

Your wrong, the "perpetual gush" will cause them billions more to fix than it will ever make, did you read the news today...they are burning off 10,000 barrels a day. They are not concerned at ALL about making a profit. They are simply fighting to stay alive as a corportation. But, then again you are against private "greedy" business, oh yeah they are so greedy...Everything has to do with money, including Baracks socialist style of gov't, or wait a second, he just lets it pile up while taxpayers suffer. Now, I'm not saying BP shouldn't have to help pay for the disaster (they are already doing that) I simply want people to realize how devastating this event will mean for business along the coast, (I live in Houston and understand all too well). Obama needs to step back with the blaming, stop with his (as he believes as seen through his speech last night) claims he can force BP to do what he says and simply work to help clean up the mess...

LOL, burning off 10,000 barrels a day (which causes more pollution), while 2.52 MILLION gallons pour out everyday. Please quit now. Your naive advocacy of these bastards is making me nauseous.

Do not call me naive...I have given you fact after fact to support my reasoning. What have you given me, opinion that is baseless. Come up with some evidence to support your "assumption." What makes you believe that this situation helps BP AT ALL. It simply doesn't, this will lead to more regulation, more money out of there pockets to clean up the spill and less drilling in the Gulf of Mexico.

Serves them right!
"our dependecy on foreign oil will durastically increase."
Yay!
Seriously, I am convinced that, in the long run, less oil used by the world will be more beneficial to our economies. That way, we will never have to worry about the costs of cleaning up disasters such as this and the costs that this might have to the fishing industry... two things that are even more important than the oil industry.

I do not like the oil industry but I think I hate the fishing industry even more. Why would you defend an industry that is basically draining the oceans of all life? If one good thing comes of this disaster it's that there will be less fishing. You really think the world is going to use less oil in the short run? Guess again. GM is now selling more cars in china than it is in the good old USA. The growing middle class in India will soon be buying cars at the same rate as china. The world is only going to be using more oil in the coming years.

Yet, you can't seem to give me a reasonable alternative! You simply state how we need to end our dependence on oil, yet you don't give a reasonable new solution...
