Before he learned to drive, Ben One was already a recording artist who had sold 325,000 units with a hit single on the Billboard Top 100 Charts as a member of the group Strong. Born and Raised on the South Side of Chicago, BenOne's love of music began at the age of 2 as he’d listen to the tunes his stepfather had created for the late blues legend Tyrone Davis. He knew his voice was a gift and that he would eventually begin producing as well as arranging. For him, music was his therapy, “The more I did it, the better I got at it,” Ben states. In 1999 at the age of 12, he and his four younger brothers signed their first record deal with Un-D-Nyable Records, a local label owned by future Chicago White Sox hall of famer Frank Thomas. It was under that particular situation that Ben got his first taste of success with the albums' single, “I Can’t Hide,” which he co-wrote. In 2004 he decided to break out on his own and focus on a solo career.
In 2008 his hard work and dedication paid off when he wrote and recorded “Never Leave My Girl,” which featured Def Jam recording artist Shawnna. The single created such an incredible response from fans and the industry that he inked a single deal with Universal Republic 3 months later. Due to the heavy air-play of “Never Leave My Girl,” Ben has been featured in Consciousness and XXL Magazine and has had numerous radio and television interviews, putting him in his rightful place as one of the top up-and-coming R&B sensations. “I write based on my day-to-day journey and make music that the people can relate to and grow with. I’m not making music to show that I’m a good singer - I’m making music to show I’m the complete package, and most importantly, to inspire others. ” Currently, Ben is in the studio writing, recording, producing, and honing in on his entrepreneurial spirit with the launch of his new label Future Boy Entertainment Group.
