Crikey - I wouldn't want to be the one fixing a fuel leak!!!
Are different types of poo more efficient? Does solid or runny make a difference? It's worth knowing because there are a few different types of poo according to this thing I found the other day - http://www.survivalistsguide.to/know-your-poo

A scientist from America has developed a hydrogen fuel cell battery that can separate the hydrogen from pee. You will probably see one of those popping up on current within a year or two..

Lol it doesn't actually run on raw poo by the way... It runs on the gas produced by poo. You have to collect the waste, put it into a tank, then separate the gas from the waste. Compress it into a tank & then it can be burned as fuel.

It's running on poo. aka methane. Methane is one of the most toxic gasses we naturally see every day. It's more harmful than Carbon Dioxide.
When you burn methane, you produce water & carbon dioxide. It makes sense to use methane since you find it everywhere! Cows actually pollute the earth more than all of the cars on earth :) So use their poo!

Fantastic. Methane. NH3. Biodiesel. Probably a number of other possibilities as well. Creating the distribution network is bound to be hugely expensive, though.

Actually , I think each population center should have their own bio fuel processing site . The space it takes is small compared to other energy plants . It would keep a lot of crap (organic matter , farm and yard waste too) out of the land fills , and that would save a lot of expense right there because it would only have to travel a short distance . No huge pipelines from siberia ...... or oil wells or giant tankers needed . I have not seen the numbers crunched , but it may be cheaper to build than what we currently operate now . We could use the same "gas" stations , could we not ?

artemis6:
Distributed energy production I think is an excellent idea. If biomass is processed near where it's produced, you avoid some level of transportation expense. The permaculture, green economics dream, of course, is a highly distributed, almost anarchic, array of food, energy and water production and distribution.
But, a cautionary note: China tried approximately to build a system of this kind during the Cultural Revolution. It was a total disaster resulting in the deaths of millions, perhaps tens of millions. Probably a close of examination of that failure would be helpful in developing an effective plan for distributed food, water and energy.
And, if you're interested at all in Asian history, you might find it very ironic that China--the great originator of centralized natural resource management--attempted at all to build a decentralized industrial system. (Hardly the static despotism that most Western scholars attribute to Asian governmental systems.)
Have conditions and technologies changed since 1966? My answer is yes. Combinations of decentralisation and centralisation are common now.

There are advantages and disadvantages. Santa has been using it for years in his sleigh but from time to time the reindeer pull nasty little pranks. This may help to explain why some of the toys under the tree aren't always in peak condition.

So if you run out of fuel on the highway do you flag someone down and have them do the honors? Excuse me sir, could you set up there on that porta-pottie contraption above my car and just do your thing?
There is a good chance this will stop people from siphoning fuel out of vehicles.

There was a documentary on the psychological make up of corporations as if they were held to same standards as a human being. If you believe that a serial killer is evil then you might tend to agree that the same diagnosis applied to the behavior of a corporation is more than valid.

Actually, if you paid attention to my posts, you would know that I treat the government with equal skepticism. I am not religious either, but good and evil exist and are manifested in actions that help or harm human beings. If you can not comprehend that, than there is nothing more to discuss.

If it were made where it got used , in small quantities , with proper safety procedures , there would be less of a problem . Are you one of those people that thinks we did NOT go to the moon ? Because I think this is totally doable . And we wouldn't be killing the oceans . Which seems to be a MASSIVE safety issue to me . As well as a long term planet human survival issue .

there is more to life than money . BP will never go for it because it will never give them POWER . If every community is supplying its own resources , this is a LATERAL power structure , not a top down one . A top down structure can consolidate power , a lateral one ? Not so much . POWER TO THE PEOPLE !
