Even with the ability to block annoyance users online, little is known about the full extent of cyperstalking online which could mean victims are stuck.
A British Crime Survey says 1 million women and 900,000 men are stalked every year in the UK, but it is only now that cyperstalking will be researched. They're looking to find online victims of harassment, threatening emails/chatroom/social sites and stalking.
The official website for the survey can be found here: http://www.nssadvice.org/survey
"I was stalked by an ex-girlfriend. The stalking consisted of endless abusive texts and e-mails. When I eventually managed to block her she then turned her attention to my ex-wife, girlfriend, ex-girlfriends. Usually she'd contact them by text telling them to keep away from me. Then she'd create false profiles on Facebook to contact friends, or she'd create Hotmail accounts using names of people I knew to contact me, with the usual tirade of abuse in the e-mail. I reported her to the police on three occasions but she was let off with a warning. The woman turned out to be bi-polar and had a history of this behaviour. "-BBC
