truly great news. while this isnt a earth changing event, and solves none of the problems we as humans face, it is still important to not only keep learning and discovering more about the universe we exist in, but put aside some time to feel good about our successes and plain good news!

Much of the technology that you use every day without thinking was developed by the space program. Since no one wants to support research that doesnt promise immediate massive profits it is research such as this that leads to break throughs that benefits us all.

Mik, it has nothing to do with what the space program is doing. It has to do with the FACT, that the world, not just the US, doesn't know much of what's at the bottom of the sea. The space program is great and all but what about the wonders in our own world?? No one takes into consideration that no country wants to go deep into our sea and look... NO ONE!
I'm happy and grateful of all the things NASA has achieved, but lets be realistic here, they rather give you a "theory" about the solar system, than go underneath and tell us what's there!!
We are running out of water, precious animals and minerals and all they want to do is look beyond what we already have. Every year, and you can look this up, every year there's a new city found under our waters, EVERY YEAR!! Now, if you do some research, you will find that our oceans began to form 10,000 years ago and that there were no "civilized" people in this world, as per our "experts" say. BUT!! every year, there are new cities found, that are OLDER than 10,000 years and can not be EXPLAINED.... why is that?? Because our government, doesn't want to look or be bother with it...
Again, this is a great post and she knows i don't go trolling her posts... i actually voted this up a while ago... but it's my opinion and decision to criticize the same people that say civilized people weren't around 10,000 years ago... I'm allow to do that, just like you decided to post your comment....
and thank you for your civilized comment... lol.. unlike the other person here...

Ocean research is great. Doesnt change the fact of the befefits of space exploration especially in its affect on circuit boards, materials and communications. I do think the the oceans were around for longer than 10,000 years.

The Oceans have been around for hundreds of thousands of years, but started forming 10,000 years ago. Most scientists are declaring that we didn't have civilized people at that time but they can't seem to explain why we have cities, structures and a big AND, proof that these underwater structures are over 14,000 to 20,000 years old.
Nothing wrong with a few "theories" but if that's all they want to focus on, than i have to call their bullshit for ignoring the obvious here.... our Oceans...

Where is proof of structures lasting 20,000 years under the ocean or elsewhere? Not even proof but serious discussion or evidence of any kind? The oldest structures generally accepted are 4-6 thousand years old. I dont buy into the Adams Calendar being 75,0000 years old.

where's the proof? lol... here's a link...
http://www.crystalinks.com/khambhat_dwarka.html ... also look at the video at the bottom of the page. It talks about other cities that are older and that have been found underwater, older than 10,000yrs old.
Any other questions, let me know...

The article that you sent me had more in it talking about how contreversial and unproven the claims were than any actual evidence of what was claimed. Even if you took it at face value they were only claiming a time line of 9500 years ago.
