Viacom sells Harmonix for less than a copy of a video game

According to reports, media giant Viacom (the people behind MTV, Comedy Central and Nickelodeon) has sold Harmonix (the developer behind 'Dance Central' and 'Rock Band') to a private holding company for $50, less than the price of a copy of 'Rock Band 3'

Viacom bought the game developer in 2006 for $175m, but it made losses. As well as the sale, it is reported that the company is also take on liabilities which includes the music rights fees and the Rock Band inventory (including the 'Rock Band Network'), and they agree to write-off $150m in taxes.
