Social Media Today examines the mechanics of social networking in the Middle East and how they contributed to the revolution in Egypt.

"The contributory role played by social media are a powerful demonstration of what I call a We First (as opposed to Me First) thinking and behavior. This mindset involves a fundamental recognition that communities, companies and countries must now embrace and demonstrate an expanded definition of self-interest that includes the greater good. To do otherwise not only threatens their own survival, but invites a revolution led by those united by shared values and connected by social technology".

    • Let's see.

      For Cable News:

Anderson Cooper - Beat up and ran back home.

Brian Williams - Watched Anderson take a beating, thought, "Bad idea" and ran back home.

Lara Logan - Beaten, Raped and carried back home on a stretcher.

      For Social Media:

Twitter - People got the news out without the aid of a cable media empire or stuffy news reader in combat boots.

Facebook - People got the news out without the aid of a cable media empire or stuffy news reader in combat boots.

I smell the end of cable news media really.

Ha, we may just be next...the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee wants us to believe that The Cybersecurity and Internet Freedom Act somehow will limit the president's power to exercise the 'Internet kill switch'...that government could even control the Internet *at all* is scary enough...http://bit.ly/hqJ7PN
