Adding LED lights to something will increase its coolness 10 times out of 10. Powering those LED's via a solar panel will increase the aforementioned coolness 11 times out of 10.
(Yeah, it makes it so cool that the very foundations of mathematics even begin to crumble.)
This DIY project would be classified as a beginner one (which makes it no less awesome, by the way), and is a great one to get your feet wet in the stream of DIY electronics and soldering.
...but I don't recommend soldering in an actual stream, for the record.
